Looking to buy Z4 coupe. Advice needed

Hi all,

I've recently decided that in the next couple of months I would like to buy a 3.0 Z4 coupe. Having driven a stage 2 Vauxhaull VX200 turbo fot the last 3 years I've decdided I want something a bit more comfortable! Rather than hijack the other thread below, I have a list of questions I was hoping you could all help me with!

Is there a buyers guide on here anywhere for me to use? If not, is there any problem areas on these cars that I should be looking out for?
Did the car have a re-calls that I should be looking out for to have been done?
Is there a list of optional extras available anywhere? Is there any extras that people would consider to be essential?
Is there a PDF copy of the original brochure anywhere?
Ive read there are a few different options for the stereo, what are these and which is the one to go for (I like my music so stereo quality is quite a big thing for me!)
Are there different model types (Ive read there's SE and sport?), if so, what are the differences?
Servicing, When and how much, when are the big services due? Do most people use BMW or are there any specialist garages that are cheaper that people would recommend?
I am steering mainly towards the 3.0 as the running costs of the 3.2 are putting me off. Is there really a big difference in terms of running costs?

Any help and advice would be very much appreciated!

Cheers

Harry

hello and welcome

there are 3 types, the SE, the Si and the M, the M is obviously the 1 to go for if you are looking for performance, i think the Si as lower suspension than the SE, most opt for the Si over the SE

There is a PDF on here some where, tis site is very helpful and user friendly, I'm sure others will be along soon to give you much better advise

ignore all the numpties who have ragtops, they will just be advising you to get a ragtop instead - they are just jealous

Numpties?? :poke:

You should definitely try the softop for a roof down driving experience - if you must have a roof, you can always buy a hardtop

Sorry, Taz isn't quite right there.

There are 3 derivatives for the Z4 Coupe:

3.0si SE
3.0si Sport
3.2 M

'si' denotes the engine type, not the model derivative.

The roof on the VX220 comes off so I'm used to the roof off experience, nice on a summers day but they are few and far bewtween! Definately set on the coupe over the roadster. What is the difference between the SE and sport?

The most important differences (and in fact they may be the only differences) is that the SE has basic seats and a less padded steering wheel - both of which make the SE look and feel a LOT cheaper.

Don't worry though, there aren't many SE coupes out there, and those that are often have the Sport extras fitted anyway.
