Hello, 1st time on the forum! Want to buy a nice Z4R have up to 10K to spent, not sure on spec etc any comments pse? Rgds, Andya.

Welcome!

Been looking myself for a while and I've worked out a few pointers. Worthwhile mods include a manual gearbox, sat nav, cruise control, heated seats, the 10 speaker system and 18-inch alloys. There's a nice silver/grey 06 plate Z4R on on here that's within your budget - looks immaculate. Failing that, for 10k you could probably get the newer shape Z4 or an older one with pretty low mileage.

If you find a car, it's worth making sure the roof motor is working properly (seems to be a fairly common fault) and the springs are good, as that seems to be another thing to go wrong. Apart from that, happy hunting!

with a similar budget we bought a 5yr old 2.0 for £9.5k at <40.000 miles

If I was doing it again I would save a few grand and get a higher mileage

engines are a personal choice, the 2.0 is quick enough for us.

Well, try the 4 pot then have a blast in one of the best 6 cylinders ever made... there's not too much difference in fuel economy but with that money should be able to now secure a facelift <06 , though I like the retro lights hence ended up with a late 05 plate... Look for M sport seats, deffo a good point & normally come HEATED!!!

Happy hunting

Firstly, welcome to the forum. You've come to the right place

Personal must haves for me:

- Hi-Fi / upgraded 10 speaker stereo - I love my music. Makes music a pleasure to listen to, even with roof down at 70mph

- Xenon headlights, great deal better than halogen

- Heated seats, keeps you warm with roof down ;)

- 3.0 engine. I love power

Good luck, happy hunting!

Welcome Andy. Mr Griff pretty much said it all when it ones to the important stuff. AlanJs checklist is invaluable too so happy hunting.

Heated seats are a must in a convertible. In my opinion. Nothing beats some warmth on your back on a cold cold day.

As said by some already, look at the roof.

Also look at the handbrake to make sure it engages without too much difficulty.

Good luck!

Thanks guys for ur welcome post. MrG: can't find that silver/grey 06 you mentioned?

Looks like a deposit has been taken but here's the link anyway: http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=34206

at the right price, I might sell mine, 2004 2.5 with fsh and only 41800 miles on the clock, serviced last year not due for another 13000 miles or summer 2013.
