Over 2.5 litres manuals are likely to be slower in the round. Unless of course you have never and will never fluff a gear change,miss a gear, stall etc. The only thing I miss when in full auto mode is gearbox braking on downchanges but you can use the paddles in steptronic mode for that anyway.
