Looking into an upgrade

Morning chaps/the ladies!!

Currently have a 2006 z4 2.0i sport.. However just got a promotion at work and how else better to celebrate then move up and get myself a nice new shape z

Now i never did research into what z to buy hence the 2.0.. Which i now wish was either the 3.0 or the alpina!!

Dont wanna go too new roughly looking at about 15/20k price bracket but could probably push the boat out a bit more and hit 25k..

But the main question is which is the best zed to go for?

I will eventually have a play with the engine and upgrade it here and there as i always have done on all cars but i dont wanna rip the interior out and fit a sat nav or change the steering wheel for the multi function controls i want that all done and in there just a case of the right colour..

Im thinking white outside.. Red or black interior..

Oh and it must have the sexy angel eyes and xenons because the halogens on this z is like driving in the dark!!

So basically what engine and spec if you dont mind giving any friendly advice!!

Everybody will give you a different answer on the engine, only you can decide TBH.

If it were me i would go for the biggest engine, but there are plenty that went for and happy with their 2.0

Well done on your promotion.
Sounds like your looking for a similar car that I was. We ended up with a 35i as the 35is was not available on the second hand market. It has adaptive suspension and the dct twin clutch gearbox. Now driven for three months and nearly two thousand miles very happy overall with the engine gearbox combo. The ride with adaptive is almost like having two cars in one. Brakes are good too. Only downsides could be overall weight ( comming from a Lotus elise sc ) and mpg which sits at 27 with mixed driving
Did think about the four pot two l turbo but the low down power of the three l turbo is just amazing and we only will do about six thousand miles in this car so fuel at 27 mpg will be fine. The smaller turbo could get maybe 34 mpg if your bothered and is only fourty bhp different.
You can chip the 35i to 350-400 bhp and get 500nm with standard internals just a bigger radiator if you needed more but this car standard is ok for us.

Agree with srhutch, to some extent, however since you actually asked I would say the 3.0 M Sport, no turbo's to worry about and that sweet straight six, yes the 35i is faster and the has the option of DCT but theres nothing like a normally aspirated 3.0 six

Or you could go to a dealer and test drive all the Z's one day and see which one truly called to you ha!

personally if i had that much money to spend i would either go for a approved used 35i or if i wanted to save a little, go for a 30i m sport as there seem to be loads of those about and with a very good spec too so more to choose one and you are more likely to get one with your perfect spec
