Looking for Recommendations for Summer tires - 18"

Hi - first time visit - wow great forum.

I need to replace my 18" rim summer tires and have decided not to use Run Flats - what is a good recommendation for summer tires (brand and tire model)?

I am sure you will get a lot of suggestion here and it really depend on driving style, budget and other factors including brands carried by reliable dealers in your area. I recently just had a set of Continental ExtremeContact DW's installed. That a new tires for the US and Canadian markets only. While not the top rated tire it ticked the right boxes for me including excellent wet preformance and value for the cost. Also a tire that is stocked by a local dealer that specalizes in high preformance tires which become important if you need a quick replacement. I now have just short of 500 mile on these tire and rate them as good or better than the Goodyear F1 GSD3's which I previously ran for 6 years.
 
The consensus is Falken 452s are highly recommended as a non-RTF alternative. Great price too. Not tried them myself but a number of forum members have. Try searching the forum for falken and you'll find the relevant threads.

Falken 452s are the recommended, as above. Excellent value for money! I'm getting mine put on soon, changing from RFTs.

1.Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 (Max Performance Summer)
2.Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric (Max Performance Summer)

I wanted to try the Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta but local dealer support was too weak.
 
I've got Goodyear F1 Asymmetrics on both cars and will go for them again. Had GSD3s before and read a report in which F1s came out on top.

Agree...there are a number of reviews out there that rate the F1 as number 1...
 
dennisgray, let us know what you decide upon and how you like them after getting 500 or so miles on them... :thumbsup:
 
I'm waiting on a few options on 19" wheels and tyre choices from my local guru Julian at Turrif Tyres. He's the man in these parts and has always looked after me before with 22s for my truck etc. He recons a particular Kumho is the best tyre on the market at the moment.

I'll report back when he does.
 
I've got Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 's on the Front and Pirelli P Zero's on the back. Wasn't cheap, but after buying them and getting a wheel alignment, it feels quite a lot more planted over the old falken 452s.
