The Auto/ Manual question isn't really one we can answer for you.

What do you prefer to drive? And, what do you want to get out of your driving? Those answers may help decide what would be best for you.

From what I understand the auto box in the Z4 isn't up to the standard of the s-tronic gearbox if you had that in your Mk2 TT?

It's worth bearing in mind that the Z4M wasn't available with an auto box, was manual only and the M division know best

The TT was a manual, heard good things about s-tronic boxes.

I really dont mind which box to be honest, it is just that the last few cars that i have had were manual so i wouldn't mind a change.

Kind of sounds like you've already made your mind up. As Wilks said, try an auto box.

lol, maybe although if the right manual comes up, i wouldn't reject it!

Just spotted this one on the trader:

Looks like a nice car, but looks very cheap considering the spec, almost suspiciously so?

Man that is one illiterate seller :D if the car checked out though it would be a steal for the colour/spec & miles for £9k ?
just have a good sniff around for the proverbial rat :P

Will do! What sort of questions should i be asking?

Got some pics of the service history. Full bmw. Its due an insp 2. What sort of money would i be looking to spend on this, stealer and Indy?

if it's due an inspection 2 why don't you offer to pay the seller the extra if he has it done and then ask the garage to run the rule over it whilst it's there? it's opportunist but the seller's reaction should give you a clue as to the quality of his wares..

Good call, doing that now.

just be clear you're not re-imbursing him if the sale doesn't go ahead! he's likely to tell you to piss off, but the manner in which he does it should be enlightening.

Just asked him of he would you be happy with me having an inspection done by an independent specialist local to him.

ap123ap, Have you managed to speak to the seller of he £9k grey coupe? He lives 10 miles from me phoned him everyday but no answer?

Where did you see he pics of the service history?

Thanks

Yeah spoken to him over text. He sent me some pics of the service book. sounds like you will get to it before me as you are closer, best of luck mate.

ap123ap Just to let you know I'm viewing the car tomorrow. Sorry as it seems like I'm taking the car from you but I have genuinely phoned him everyday this week. (Search eBay, autotrader and pistonheads everyday for a Z4 Coupe over the last month)

Will let you know the outcome (I'm very fussy)

So if you don't mind me asking, you found the car is due inspection 2, and I also know the Car is not Taxed. Wheels need light refurb due to laqauer peel not kurbing..

What price should I pay for the car? £9000 too much?

What's people thoughts on mileage come resale.. Looking to keep car 1-2 years so will be selling at around 90-100,000.. Any idea what it could be worth then?

Thanks

Having just followed a similar path to you i will say that you may find it hard to get any more off than the asking..

It is cheap,so its hard to bargain when every other example is more expensive, but anything you can get off will be a bonus..

Look at what needs spending and subtract from asking price, start from there. If you have a hard and whiley seller, you may end up paying the full price if the car is what you want.

Resale...

Looking at the recent one that went for just over £7k with 103,000 on the clock i would have a guess that the one your looking at maybe worth £6k ish in a couple of years with similar miles?

Given that the car appears to be genuinely cheap you'll probably have to go asking price.

Especially considering ap123ap is also very keen.

If I was the seller, knowing I've got 2 interested parties I wouldn't be accepting offers.

It's a dog eat dog world out there, you're viewing the car tomorrow, I've no idea when ap123ap plans to get down there for, but he may well have already arranged a viewing also.

This is an interesting scenario. Asking the more experienced forum members, what is the etiquette for "poaching cars", is there a forum "gentlemen's agreement" or is it a free-for-all. Certainly would make me think twice before asking questions about a car I was keen on buying.

I know this situation isn't "poaching" Welsh had been looking at the car already and the situation looks very honest, but it triggered a question in my mind.

Whoever turns up first with the cash wins i guess..

Unless a deposit to hold has been accepted by the seller..

Sort of hoping it's a shed! - especially as I have to sell mine soon and that seems cheap.

Good luck

good man, i hope it is a genuine car and it is a real bargain!

Let us know how you get on mate.

The car is sorn at the moment.

The seller also offered the car to me for £9k. if it was local to me i would have considered taking a look at it but it is a little too far for me to take a punt.

Make sure that you go over the car top to bottom as the price seems a little to low.

Best of luck mate!
