looking for a hard top

got a quote for a new hard top (sterling grey) from Parkes BMW, Hillhead in Glasgow. - £1600. Can anybody do me a better price ? Happy to look at good nick used as long as I don't have to get it sprayed.

Mint s/h ones usually go for up to £1000 on eBay, although for some reason silver ones seem to fetch a bit more. A sterling grey one sold a couple of days ago for £1090, and theres currently a black one on there at £1250 - overpriced and still no bids with eleven hours to go.

Mind you, even that new price has come down £200 from the cheapest previous price I've seen. Depends on how quick you want it and how long you intend to keep it I suppose; if the answers are 'now' and 'ages' a brand spanker might be for you, espcially if you can negotiate a bit of discount....I mean this is old stock they are sitting on so they might be open to offers.

Certainly the worst time of year to be buying one with regards price, so expect them to be way more than in the Spring. someone is asking £1250 for a used, on ebay but you'd expect £800 -£900 out of season when people remove them, have no storage and demand is lower.

As Lacroupade say - all about how much you'll wait, willing to pay, etc. , but given the quote is for new, no need to travel to collect, no respray, etc. then it's not a bad price.

Saw the one on ebay that went for £1090 - In fact thought I'd won it with a bid of £950. Right up to about an hour to go it was going fine then there was a bit of an avalanche .......damn auctionsniper!

Surely nobody actually just bids on Ebay for an item that they really want....lol

esnipe takes all that out of it for about 50p per win.

Just a thought, but you might want to have this as an option, as I have noticed a few are looking for hardtops, I organised a group buy for them a few months ago,,

Bob in the parts department at ardens (formerly Coopers) is the man to speak to, 01622 717222, he is also a member of the forum, or if you prefer I can have a word with him, and see what he can do.

May well be up for that - Im going to call tomorrow and see if we can tag onto the old order. If not surely we can get to 4 - seems to be 2/3 that were bidding at a £1k on the ebay auction.

I'd sell my Sterling silver hardtop plus the cover for a grand, (wedding coming up next year and we are struggling).

Condition is excellent, Give me a PM if you are interested.

Edit: just noticed you are in Glasgow, dunno what a courier would cost, it's a handful.
