Looking for a 3.0 Z4

Hi there,
Am new to the Z4 scene but have been mulling over the idea of getting one for some time now. I have thinned out some of my toys and have been given the green light by the boss to proceed with getting one. :driving:

I am hoping to get my hands on a 4 with the following:
3.0, however will consider a 2.5
Heated and electric seats. I am 6’ 3” while the wife is 5’ 1” and we will no doubt share the pleasure of driving it, so they are at the top of the wanted list.
Good service history, not fused about it being main dealer but has to be detailed enough to help quell my wife’s worries about having an older car
Lower the mileage the better, I have driven German cars most of my driving life so know what they are capable of as long as they are looked after
Body colour not overly bothered as long as it is in good nick and no dents, rot, scrapes etc
Interior colour not bothered again, however needs to good and tidy with no major wear issues
Gear box - not fussed either way.

My budget is about 4K and I am hoping to find a car up in the North, (Yorkshire) if possible. However I am happy to travel for the right vehicle.

So if anyone has one up o grabs or are thinking of selling there’s, please drop me a message and we can have a chat.
Cannot wait to get one and get out there and enjoy the sun/grey weather. :)

Thanks

Paul

As ole git points out its hard to imagine a better fit for your ask than the car he has linked to, well looked after, great colour and wheels and the all important for you electric seats which are quite a rare option on early zeds

edit, just noticed no heated seats, bit odd someone speccing elec seats and then not having them heated.. that said its still a very nice car and plenty of places will install heating pads in them these days

Exactly this regarding the heated seats.

Easy, and not that expensive, to get third party seat heating fitted, or to swap out for heated electric seats as the wiring is in place in pre-face lift cars I believe.

Far too many potentially fantastic Zed’s being avoided because of a ‘current’ lack of heated seats :?

That's because we all tell them heated seats are a must for driving on a cold crisp morning with the roof down :D

Welcome to the forum.
These car have a furnace style heater which warms very quickly, heated seats are very nice, my wife users hers a lot.
There are quite a few early Z's with electric seats, that I have seen and they have memory settings.
Good luck with the search

Welcome to the forum, and good luck with your search.

And once you've found your Z4 don't forget we like to see photos!

Many thanks for the warm welcome and pointers. I usually have a habit of rushing into things, however this time I am going to wait fo the right one to come along. Will definitely post pics once I have purchased one. :)

I have spotted this one which is close (ish), would appreciate peoples opinion in regards to price etc.

looks ok.. no heated seats again though, in the current market the price is ok from a dealer to be fair, I dont see anything better than the forum car listed above though other than the lower mileage. Given the unknown provenance of the dealer car and the known history and obvious care given to the forum car, I would take the higher miler forum car in this particular scenario, the m54 engine can handle the higher mileage without concern and the usual suspects in regards to known faults have been taken care of, that said I do understand the mind game a lower mileage car plays and can understand the attraction.... seems the forum car is unsurprisingly sold now anyhow.. good luck with your search, Im sure with patience a perfect car will eventually rock up

only a 2.5 but i wouldn't discount it without a test drive, they are still pretty pokey and although a budget stretch this is a fantastic carvwith some great upgrades

Looks nice, reasonably priced (dealer car, for that mileage and condition) and Maldives Blue has a particular following. MOT history is pretty good too. Be sure to have a close look at the front end, the bonnet looks depressed where it meets the front bumper to the extent that you can’t see the shut line in the photos. It may just be badly adjusted or missing bump stops, but could indicate a collision at some point. And those alloys are definitely 18”, not 17” like it says.

Electric seats were std on the 3.0i but not heated as std.

 never knew that, wish the e89 was the same, I do miss electrically adjustable seats

Right guys, I have found this: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202104040978618?fromSavedAds=true&advertising-location=at_cars

Have spoken to the owner and it sounds like a great little car, he was very open and honest and is happy to send videos and the engine start up etc. The roof doesn’t work and he said he is open to negotiation. Would appreciate your honest feedback/comments, if it is decent engine etc. I have binned the idea of heated seats as I have been reassured the heaters are nice and hot. :D

Not certain I would want that with the roof not operating, not a forum car and yes a few years older but have you seen these -

Yes both these are on my radar. I was hoping th roof issue would be down to the common fault I have read about on here and google. Guess it is one of those were you pay your money and take your chances......

Yep, I guess it what the guy is prepared to knock off the price to make the risk worth it

Think I will speak to zed shed in the morning and get a guide on prices and then take it from there. Appreciate your input on this!

That second car just looks right, even though it’s slightly higher mileage. It gets my vote.
