Looking for 2009-2012

New guy here. Live in Eastern Washington, the dry side of the state.

Had a Cayman S that my wife wouldn't drive. Looking for a fun roadster the wife can drive and enjoy as well. Aesthetically I like the Z4 much more than the Boxster. Even though they are largely the same car, I think the Cayman is a much better looking car than the Boxster.

I think the Z4 is a very good looking car and will offer enough performance to be a lot of fun, especially a 35. Currently starting to look for a 2009-2012. White would be first color choice. The price on this range of cars seems to make them a bargain.

Any hints about things to look for? I always try to buy cars with books and records. Any options that most consider a must have?

Welcome along. There's a mind-boggling list of options to chose from, but I would put a set of 19" 326 Alloys right up there along with M Sport seats
As for Engines: there's 2 ltr 4 pot turbos or 3 ltr 6 cylinder NAs & twin turbos to pick from. I'd go for at least 250bhp and the turbos can be remapped with very impressive gains if you want to go down that route.

My personal must haves
- 6 cylinder engine
- 19" 326M wheels
- sport seats
- parking sensors
- heated seats
- DSP hi-fi loudspeaker
- sat nav (I didn't like the radio interface without the pop up screen)
- folding mirrors

On the pre-2013 models, I believe some of my must have were options that I had on my 2010 23i:
- Folding dimming mirrors
- Automatic headlights
- Rain sensor wipers

Nice to haves
- cruise control
- heated steering wheel
