I suppose it depends on your definition of low miles, how low are you looking? I drew the line at around 60k..

It doesn't have factory fitted xenon lights. But it does look like there's an after market kit on there

I would be much the as,e as you. No more than 50-60,000. I believe an inspection 2 is due around that mileage. So either find one that has just had it done, or just had the oil service prior to it
 
Getting one that's just had inspection 2 will save some £££.

I bought mine just after inspection 2, and the invoice showed c.£600 on inspection and associated parts. I wouldn't be too concerned about 60k+ miles.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. It's normally around 60,000 discs pads etc are replaced at inspection 2, so yeah a nice saving.

It's not the car itself that I worry about at 60,000 I'm sure the mechanics of it would be okay. It's general ware and tear, normally slightly higher mileage means more stone chips, leather maybe a little saggy or cracked etc
 
Okay I think I may have found one.

With reference to the tapping noose when cold (tappets?) if it is something that hasn't been replaced already should I go ahead? Or is it something that may well gomand I should look for one that has had them replaced?
 
Just done a quick search on Autotrader, cheapest under £10K 54000 miles in black, 3.0 L Si best one possibly ??? £12.5K 41000 miles in grey so plenty to choose from with reasonable mileage ....Happy Hunting :thumbsup:

That's reasuring to hear, the fact that it's not an enevitability, and may never happen
 
I think it depends on use, if you are using a lot every day, like 20+miles twice a day it shouldnt do it.

Mine only does it after I have been working in my local office which is 4 miles away so the car doesnt really warm up properly.

I would work on the idea that its inevitable though then you wont be dissapointed when it happens
 
Not even that long a run really, 4-5 miles and mine stops doing it. Ive given up worrying about it, BMW wont fix it and I will sell the car in a year or so therefore it doesnt bother me anymore.
 
If you could find one with the head already changed you might be lucky but good luck with that.

Mine has had the HVAs changed, didnt make any difference really

Do you know this dealer or this car? It's over 200 miles from me. I wouldn't want to drive that far to be disappointed
