Great Car But the airbags light was on (in red) all the time, they said it would be fixed on buying
but is this a deep rooted problem or a easy fix, buy or walk away? :?

Airbag is the easiest light to trip, could be anything from removing a seat to working on the hifi.

Why people don't think to get it fixed before someone comes to view it :headbang:

Especially since it only takes literally two minutes (so long as nothing is afoot)

+1

I had been putting off fixing mine for ages, but i figured i'd need to fix it at some point before i ever sell the car. So I may aswell do it straight away and at least i know the airbags are going to work! £200 fix though :x

OP if you buy that car make sure the fault is cured and not just wiped the codes for a temporary fix.

Tell him when it's fixed to give you a call and you will come back and take another look at it.

... and make sure they haven't just disconnected the warning bulb... ie check it's lit when the ignition turns on & goes out.

I traveled all the way from Teddington to Wakefield on Friday to see an M (four hour train trip!). The Dealer (independent) had known i was coming for over a week and when I got there the following was wrong with the car:

1. Driver's Window regulator broken
2. driver's wing mirror missing mirror glass
3. no road tax
4. no MOT
5. Needed two back tyres
6. front pads
7. boot liner was ripped
8. front end needed a respray due to horrendous stone chips
9. alloys de-laminating and heavily curbed

not bad for a car which he told me was "ready to go!" a week ago...especially as the dealer had got the car 8 weeks ago. a total waste of a day!

oddly this car is listed on Pistoneheads both privately and as a trade add with different prices. all very odd so i walked...

That's disgusting, sorry to hear you had such a wasted trip.

Maybe worth asking on here to see if anyone lives nearby any you see online so they can take a quick look first on your behalf?

Or wait until I put mine back up for sale...again.

Whilst I'll never claim it's concourse (it's a daily driver after all, and done 10,000 mostly boring motorway miles in the last 3 months), at least I'll be honest about anything that needs doing.

My M is for sale and I'm about to drop the price. It needed a new bonnet sensor which has now come but can't understand why people dint state these things before ppl make huge trips. I did two similar trips when I was looking last year. Drop me a pm if your still looking, depends what spec you're after I guess. I'll be honest and upfront though.

Si

Nice idea Psy. When I find another I'll definitely post to see if anyone is local, but I'm thinking about going the AUC route as at least you know what you get with the dealer.

Mmm-five are you serious about putting yours up for sale?

Ideally I am looking for black on black with all the toys but would consider champagne. but needs to be very clean, fbmwsh and low miles. Judging by your post you'll definitely have kept it mint!

Anyone got one that meets the bill give me a shout.

Hark - your car looks nice but really after black.

Cheers guys

Phil

Sorry mmm-five just realised theres something wrong with the roof on yours. It doesn't seem to fold.... :poke:

It will fold, it just needs a little help from a can-opener - more of a targa than a roadster though :P

Mileage would be an issue, as it's rapidly approaching 50,000 miles (daily driver doing 200-600 miles a week), and I did say it wouldn't be concourse/mint as it's a daily driver, but then the price would be based on condition as much as age/spec.

Every time work dries up I put it back up for sale, as it's work mileage that pays for the fun mileage :P

When I'm working from home, I have to look at out through the office window, and I'm always tempted to leave the work until later and go out for a drive.

Still got 2 more months where I am though, and I much prefer driving the Z4 down the motorway on Mondays, and back up through Wales on Thursdays, than getting the train.

If you sale your M how much you looking for ?

Probably £16k-ish as it is, or maybe £250 more if I have time to get the swirls/holograms sorted (that BMW failed to rectify despite 2 attempts, so I gave up).

Don't want to get the paintwork corrected until I've stopped doing my motorway commutes & hotel car parking though, as I'll just end up with more marks, stone chips & pin-pricks (no dings thank God, but people seem to be careless with luggage).

I've only just put 2 Pilot Super Sports on the front.
