I cant wait to get it fitted - its simplicity is perfect: depress the end to set the speed, then push forwards to speed up, pull towards to slow down I'm guessing?
So once its engaged (by pushing forward) how do you increase speed using the cruise control - do you push forward again?

Yep, exactly that. Knock it forward several times and it will go up in steps, but i prefer to push forward and hold it there and let the car accelerate away !!!

Ah right, so you can work the acceleration in steps by clicking forward repeatedly, or push forward and hold for a smooth acceleration?
Imagine it as a sort of binary throttle pedal colin.
Pushing forward constantly is like stepping on the throttle pedal gently.
Pushing forward in steps is like blipping the throttle i've found and it resumes your chosen speed unless 'blipped' more than a few times.
Kind of handy as you can drive in traffic using only the cc stalk.
Wish it was speed-indexed to the car in front tho.

My Z has it and I use it a lot on the motorways with cameras - not so much on the others! :lol:
Totally agree, CC is incredibly useful through those long 50mph roadworks on the M1/M62 etc...

I don't think there's much to it from the wiring diagrams, just need a Guinea pig... Worst case wire it in and it doesn't work, sell the stalk on and be down a repair loom.
I can't see there's anything more to it than connecting to the pin shown in WDS, but would need one to try it on. I can only assume it's not been done before because there are no specific retrofit instructions. I'm pretty sure I posted the diagrams in the M thread.
The instructions are excellent, and I did it myself whilst trying to keep an eye on the kids ! Only mistake I made was starting late afternoon, and ended up running out of light, which made seeing things a tad trickier ! With weather not being great at this time of year (thinking more of how cold it is, and how frustrating it can be once your fingers can't feel a thing) I would want to do it in a garage.
Or even break the job into steps. There are trim pieces you will need to remove, so focus on doing them one day, and then leave the job of rewiring for another day. You will be more pleased with the results if you do it yourself..

8 minutes on the phone, never pressing a clutch, not putting the car in neutral, not putting the handbrake on?
They also make it sounds as if the speed is supersonic or so - "now going 77", and on an empty motorway.
Very weird story, especially as there did not seem to be anything wrong with the car.
