Doner Kebab = UK ------------- Gyros = US

It's ok also to never get used to fish'n chips. It's really a disgusting dish.

Not after 4 pints of Stella it ain't.

And who could refuse a good chicken vindaloo after a night out with the lads?

Oh god yes!!!!
You made my day saying ya'll have Kebab's (sp?) for nights of drinking. That is the BEST meal ever to have when drunk! I'm in <3
Truthfully though, Gyro's IMO don't compare to doner kebab's across the pond.

I really do try not to be "that guy" that is bragging and being loud & obnoxious, especially in other countries. I do my best to blend and not brag. Though you will catch me wearing my t-shirt & jeans alot.

After driving in Vegas I shouldn't have a problem passing on the right as that's the only place too past most the time :D And speeding.....ha, 10 miles over the posted limit is normal on a slow day. But yeah I remember roads were faster all over in Europe, glad I have a car that can handle it.
The Germans called cell phones "mobiles" too. Sounds like it won't be too bad of a culture shock for me.

As far as the base, yes they have car dealerships on some of them, even overseas. Usually they lean towards american cars (Harley's too). I know there was a BMW Military Sales in Germany, and I really kick myself for not demanding a loan and picking up a brand new 04 Z4 fully loaded for about $43k. At any rate, I'm hoping to find a BMW mil sales over there and possibly upgrading my current Z4. Of course when that new Chevy Camaro comes out I might be in something totally different :?

Oh I forgot the most important question.....Anyone on the forum live any where's near Lakenheath? I'm hoping for a lot of cruising around

Hi Aebous, I live about 32 miles away, would be good to meet up, for a cruise up round the Norfolk coast 8)

Be sure to have a nice long drive out to the countryside also... It is indeed very different to what you'll be used to and it isnt hard to find some VERY involving roads that will beg you to turn round and go that little bit quicker!

If you really miss the sun and as you'll be so near, you could also grab some of your mates to do long weekends in Amsterdam, Paris, Prague, Southern Spain and the Balaeric Islands etc etc. All will provide amazing nights out with vastly different culture; all within a 1hr-3hr very cheap flight!

Edit: Almost forgot that the Nurburgring is only ~450 miles and a 1hr ferry away too :)

Yeah that was another question I was reserving for later down the road. How is driving times to those places, train times too. Ryan air does still fly out there right? It'd be nice to get a below 50 dollars ticket to italy.....

Dude! Y'all are making me wish I was going too!

Congrats Aeb! Sounds like you're going to have a great time out there.

And don't worry about the fags over there, they won't bother you unless you smoke them

Even Vegas?
I don't want to take my car where people don't obey traffic laws. I've had enough of that here

The Brit's have one of the safest driving set ups in all the world. I would be more concerned about your knowledge/understanding/execution of their Rules of the Road than most British drivers. London is an outstanding city for the most part and driving in it is extremely challenging at best of times. I wouldn't test myself for a few months before heading out on my own especially if you have a RHD vehicle. Seriously, take your time with UK driving. Have one of the UK boyz take you for a drive on some "B" roads and see if your perspective changes. Drive after just one pint (remember the UK pints are 20oz not 16, and the beer has a higher alcohol content.) at night with some gusto and emergancy services will be pulling you from a hedgerow with tweezers. Be safe with this...really.

We're about an hour away from where you will be based. There's plent of us over here who'll take you round some amazing driving roads.Just get used to how narrow our roads are. Look forward to welcoming you over here.
