I have recently come into some extra dough, and have decided its the right time to try and to take the plunge from a 3.0i to the M. The process would be INCREDIBLY easier if I could find someone who would simply swap with (I obviously add the difference in cash). So, I would be very grateful if anyone here in the U.S. could keep an eye out for those types of deals. Thanks!

If you only look for swaps, you will limit yourself in choice. Moreover, anyone willing to swap might just be looking for a better maintained car... I would stay away from swaps, I've had nothing but bad experiences with those myself.

Seriosly though,If someone wanted to down grade from the M to a 3.0 ,the first thing I would think is they could not afford to maintain and run the M.
So how well as it been looked after???????

Exactly, you'd better take the time to sell your 3litre and then take your time to find a well maintained M.
I know the waiting can be painfull, but also rewarding afterwards.

Sell the 3.0L and then dive into the awesome world of M! I can't think why a //M owner would down grade to a 3.0 either.
