What about exdos and sixspeed?

I've owned my Z4MC for 3.75years and owned my Z3MC for 12.5years. No intention of selling either of them.

just if, which would you get rid of if it really was necessary and why?

I remember using sixspeeds zed as my screensaver prior to buying mine and then reading your posts on suspension when I started actively using the forum

I guess the lure of the coupe is its more of an all weather car vs the roadster... Which while competent in winter most people see as summer toys.

Be interesting to know the average ownership time of both the roadster and coupe and compare the difference.

I'd hate to be faced with that. The Z4MC is altogether a better car because it's been properly designed from the drawing board. The Z4 was originally designed as a Coupe and the Roadster is the intentional derivative and not the other way round. The Z3MC was designed as an afterthought correction project to attempt to iron out all the failings in the Z3 roadster platform, so it's a "hot rod", which produces the car's quirky looks which I adore. I could eulogise about the aesthetic design of the Z4MC for a long time, which IMO is near perfect as a design, but for me the attraction to the Z3MC was as instant as the first time I saw Debbie Harry (and my wife)!

Neither car is perfect in the handling department when OEM, so I've ended up modding both of them to make both cars into superb handling cars which I've been happy to drive hard on track.

I've had some outstanding drives in the Z3MC particularly in company with other Z3MC owners on our "Welsh weekender" visits and have some great memories attached to the car. If push came to shove I'd find it harder to part with the Z3MC simply because I feel more attached to the car and have a "loyalty" to it. I hope I never have to make the choice.

ok so the coupe would go for :|

if i had to get rid of either the coupe or the M roadster there would be no competition, the M roadster would be gone without hesitation

I think you are correct (that and the looks, which are a matter of personal opinion), but I was taken by surprise when a mate said "bet you're glad you switched to the coupe!" in the recent wet weather. I laughed, but hadn't actually thought about it like that before. The roadster is perfectly competent, as you say. Very watertight and as cosy a place to be in crappy weather as the coupe. I guess it's just the inconvenience of having to look after the roof motor which makes it less of an "all weather" proposition, which is more than made up for by the ability to drop the hood when the rain stops.

Plus, I think roadster drivers are a little more resilient anyway (both in respect to the weather and to general abuse).

9 years and a couple of months here, I doubt there's many of the other original owners left now.

wow thats impressive, did you buy it new, is it your DD and how many miles as it got on the clock?

Yeah new, I ordered it after seeing the coupe on the cover of the BMW magazine, it's registered October 2006. Only used as a weekend toy and I really don't get enough time to use it so it's only done about 14k now. I think I'm going to own it for a long time, I've got no reason to sell it, and I wouldn't change it for anything more exotic as I'd use that even less.

3years 6 months for me and not at all bored with it yet. Still makes me grin!!

Z4 3.0Si, owned for just under 8.5 years. No plans to sell it - Sunday car that has just 18,000 miles on it.
Looks like you should start another thread for Z4 roadster ownership - you'd possibly win it with those years under your ownership
