Long time owner finally creating an account

Hi,

I thought I would finally create an account on the forum. I've owned an E89 Z4 2009 from new, and I'm starting to get the car back on the road after far too long. I've been browsing the forum for years as I've had issues with the roof and found the advice helpful.

In terms of work on the car:

• Both rear lights were letting water in and were replaced, which almost ruined the hydraulic motor
• The dealership has replaced the roof wiring loom and microswitches twice. Fortunately, they covered the labour
• I'm currently replacing the cam position sensors

I'm looking to get the car running smoothly again as I haven't been using it, and it desperately needs to be driven.

14 years is a very long time lurker. Better late than never! Welcome. Why has your car been off the road? And for how long?

Eleven years is probably around the correct number. I started browsing when I first had roof issues and the rear light leak which was back in 2012.

I posted a whole story in the E89 problems but the short version is that I kept having roof issues and I had gotten fed up with the car. I meant to sell it but I don't want to sell it with a broken roof. I hadn't considered doing anything myself on the car but I now see there are so many tutorials on how to maintain the N52 engine it is worth getting my hands dirty. I'm now feeling excited about the car again.
