Long-time car lover, first time BMW/Z4 owner

Just picked up a 2003 Z4 3.0i with some tasteful mods (and a few less so). I've owned an Audi A6 4.2 and a Civic Si Coupe but this is my first roadster and BMW. Been sharing a Prius with my wife for the last 9 years, so a big upgrade in my quality of (driving) life. I live in Texas where it's convertible weather 300+ days a year, so it finally makes sense to have one.

The yellow film has been removed from the headlamps, as have all the vinyl/stickers on the car. Taking it to get an oil change and State inspection on Friday. Hoping to fix the power roof, upgrade the stereo, get new floor mats, maybe upgrade the headlights/change the taillights (not in love with the clears). The exhaust, wheels, and brakes are great.

Would love to hear your suggestions. I've got a decent budget for repairs and upgrades.

Welcome to the forum!

Good choice of car- right engine size!!

This place is a good source of info- your call what you want to address first: the common five areas of failure it looks like you already have some of those to sort with the roof issue!? Search on here for the rest:

Roof motor fail
Rear springs cracking
DISA valve
Water pump
Window regulators and door cable stretching

If you are handy with tools most are fairly simple to fix yourself, but essentially you have a great bmw engine.

I love Texas- I worked in Dallas for 6 months and have relatives in Lubbock- you are blessed with a better climate than here in the uk at the moment!

Hello and welcome, indeed some interesting mods there, the 326M wheels look really good and combined with the slightly higher profile and decreased offset they really fill out the arches  Do the fronts rub?

Enjoy your 300 days of sunshine :D

Welcome to Z ownership and the forum. Looks like some tasty extras on the car, have fun with your new car.

welcome along! car looks great, love those wheels. unfortunately in the UK we dont have smooth enough roads to get away with it!

only thing i'd definitely do is what you've already suggested - remove the yellow tints, and the BMW motorsport decal, and change the clear rears. but brakes, exhaust and intake all look great  happy roof down motoring!

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Like you say, some good modifications and some not so good!

It will certainly look much better with clear headlights and no graphics!
