Long distance searching

Been on the lookout for an E89 for over a year now - you would think I could find the right one easily wouldn't you ? really want a red preferably 30i or 28i in manual - no chance of finding one down here so have been looking further afield bearing in mind this means a lot of time and money spent on ferries etc only to be disappointed - been " over the water " several times in the past months - both trade and private sales - spent 9 hours yesterday on a 180 mile round trip including car ferry to look at a 2010 private one owner low mileage 30i manual ( albeit not red ) described as immaculate - got there and yes was in good shape apart from a scrape on the bottom of the front bumper - but that could be fixed relatively cheap - what he didn't tell me was the engine had been replaced under warranty - owner saw this as a positive - I just saw it as a red flag ie what caused the engine to fail ? different engine number on V5 etc - rear spring found to be broken - just had the one spring changed at a local non BMW garage - under the bonnet was filthy :(

I have a 12 bore shotgun and I've told my wife to shoot me if I start talking about going off again on a long distance search for a car

Jasperoony’s is the car for you Gov if you can strike a deal, it’s as new.

Not sure if you’re in that price bracket but if so the search is over. :driving:

Worth asking any local members to view the cars for you and give you the nod if worth making the trip before you commit to the outlay.Im sure many would be willing to do this if found local.

From memory Jasperoony is up here in NE England - I’m sure his car will be the right one if in your price range.
It’s a fair old hike for you but you could always make a holiday out of the trip

We’ve got some nice countryside and good driving roads!

yes Jasperoony's car looks the business but not in my budget range - my wife wouldn't be too happy if I spent £30k on a toy

Ironically we have the only BMW garage on the IOW just a mile outside of our village - whilst they have had several E89's in the past never been the right model or colour - now thinking that an approved car is the way to go - yes more expensive but as always you get what you pay for - I have spoken to them to keep me posted .

Yes I think they might within reason - if it's in the South :)
