I've been back a couple of times since I returned from working out there last year and each time it felt like I was going home. The way of life suits me (and I think the quality of life is better in many ways too).

Live, work, eat, sleep, drink London .. since i graduated basically. Overly familiar with SW postcodes and 'the city'. Life is so busy here it seems recently i rarely get to leave zone 2/3 (unless it's to an equally busy downtown Chicago/NYC). However I do miss my country upbringing, especially good roads... Though London definitely has a magic that 90% of people who visit won't understand, no other city compares.
I'm sure when my beers+uber habit is replaced with netflix+chill i'll sell my house for somewhere commuterbelt.. or maybe go full country if i can earn enough of a living to fund a car habit outside of the square mile. Interesting people say they cant afford London houses, i get it - it's not cheap here - however - commuterbelt seems no cheaper to me (then you add travel costs!).

Thanks OG. The situation for doctors in the UK is becoming untenable, but that isn't why I'm going. It's the destination that calls me, not the dire politics and working conditions that drive me away.
Bing, I'm keeping the Westie in the UK for now. It usually lives on its trailer in my parents' garage anyway, and they don't need the space. My ///M will go in there too until I am eligible for Permanent Residency, at which time it'll be going in a shipping container bound for Aus. I won't be abandoning my Zed as easily as you did PVR

I recently moved out of my flat in Clapham after getting married and moved out to Newbury. I told my tenants that you might find me on the sofa at silly o clock some weekends 
Whilst I lived there for approx 7 years, I miss parts of the life, such as those listed above, but moving out into a market town had so much draw to it - plus I got a double garage which allowed the ///MC to give up its daily commuter job and rest - and I bought a 3 series estate for my commune to Bracknell!
