Lollipop bushes

Whilst working on my car i've noticed the outer rubber part of one lollipop bushing has separated, the rest of the bush looks fine and there is no play, car has no knocks and rattles and handles fine.

Now should I just replace the lollipops or do the whole control arms, or wait till the bush gets worse?

I suspect like everything on my car they are original and over 20 years old but who knows.

One would expect any play in the ball joints would be picked up at MOT time but having said that they are probably the originals so they must have got some wear by now. If you are keeping the car its probably due for a refresh, easier to change the lollypops with the control arm off the car and getting them off usually results in damaging the ball joint rubber covers as they can be very hard to get them to disconnect, Anti-roll bar bushes would also be worth renewing, old rubber gone hard by now and past its best. Check the struts and their top mounts make sure they have no leaks and provide good damping. Springs condition also worth checking for excessive rusting and top mount condition. If you replaced it all you would certainly notice a difference, these components deteriorate over time and you don't notice until something breaks or you notice somethings not quite right when driving it with knocks and noises. Inner and outer track rods would complete the refresh. Whats the mileage and year of the car?

Well it passed mot today with no mention of them.

Car is 2004 120k and front shocks and top mounts have been done recently and yes I noticed a massive difference after having them done so much so changed the rear shocks soon after
