Lol at van drivers...

I have had a white van man come screaming up behind me whilst I was queueing at a roundabout, giving it various hand gestures :roll: And also some guy walking along with his chavvy bint decided to shout w***er at me :lol: I just gave him a grin and put my foot down 
Funny how it's usually people on foot or in a heap of junk that seem to have something derogatory to say eh? Funny thing envy :lol:

I've not had anything yet. As the previous owner of two 3 series company cars, I used to like letting people out, giving way and generally being courteous, that used to confuse the haters no end!
A lot of smaller kids have done the thumbsup or waved, that's kind of cute

Almost identical thing happened to me - stationary in a queue minding my own business when dickhead with cap and chavvy companion sees me and goes into one - mouthing expletives about my nocturnal habbits and denigrating the size of my willy - I thought it was halarious ! Forgot to mention this happened in one of my previous cars ---- 24v Ford Probe ---loved that car but may be he had a point!!
I've noticed this too - I've driven convertibles for the past 10yr ish, and had more van drivers tailgating me since I got the Zed in January than for the last 10yrs! Agree that a lot of it is down to the BMW badge...
Had 1 bloke in a POS Audi estate shout "are you stupid?" to me when I beeped at him and had to put anchors on cos he was trying to go all the way round the roundabout in the outside lane. I took full advantage of the top being down to respond "eff off, you're the tw@t in the wrong lane" and laughed at him.
Think it is just envy - we've got brilliant cars, they have not!

I must admit in 5 years of Roadster ownership I don't think I ever experienced that kind of comment directed at me, although there might have been the odd time when it was muttered under their breath! I occasionally got what Markeg got (ie windscreen washer jets put on) but they soon lose interest when they work out it doesn't work.
In the Coupe so far I've only had positive remarks, people telling me what a beautiful car it is. I love that. I do the same if I see a car I really love.

I have never had an issue in my coupe either , I think it's perceived by some to be posing in a roadster and by shouting / swearing and gesturing they are trying to belittle & cause embarrassment, probably through envy . I also have a TR 6 which rarely has the roof up but have never had negative comments . it's probably not viewed with the same sort of image though .just my thoughts. Chris
Had a few issues when I had the roadster but no verbals just car posturing in traffic like not letting me in if I'm trying to join the flow. Never anything in the MC though. Probably scares most people.
My advice is to smile, look them in the eye, give them a combined wink and invisible kiss before mouthing the words "I love you" then flooring it and waving back at them through your open topped baby.

when i had my last roadster, i never got any abuse as i most likely would of stopped the car in the middle of the road and walked over to slap the offendors..... the local kids however loved to draw a dust penis on my bonnet when it got a little dirty. never caught them, else they would of got the same treatment

Not had any abuse yet that I have been going slowly enough to hear. Just admiring looks, many from my son's mates who think it's very cool. Though their judgement is suspect as one thought it was a Ferrari... Apparently through the gales of laughter that ensued he could be heard to say 'but I was a really long way away down the road'. Still, for a moment there in his head I was über-cool

Found White van man very reasonable & polite towards the Zed... Never had a problem, totally the opposite.
However, have to be sexist but the women in the flash motors are the ones that seem to have the attitude & won't let u in nowadays. I just smile & have a jesture giggle with the car behind...

Is this just a roadster thing or have coupe owners experienced this too?
I always let people out so not had any negative moments yet. You do get people in M3 beemers revving their engines as they race past, though. Something to prove I guess.
Did have a group of girls say 'that's a cool car' the other day parking up to do some food shopping, which was nice.
