Ok... I was under the impression there are 3 audio options for the Z4. However, in the last two months i've seen a number of cars claiming to be fitted with this option. At first I thought it was just foolsih dealers but now there are lots even on BMW's website that claim to have this option.

Have BMW suddenly decided to refer to DSP as Logic 7!?

They are two different animals,,,

Logic 7 is Lexicons version of taking a two channel signal and turning it into multi channel sound, developed by the Lexicon lot to rival Dolby Pro logic.


whereas DSP is a signal enhancer not only in stereos but found in mobile phones etc,That's a basic explanation of what a DSP does. It takes a digital signal and processes it to improve the signal. The improvement may be clearer sound, sharper images, or faster data. And that ability to improve signals is making new breakthroughs such as Internet music and broadband to the home possible.

Logic 7 is available on 3 series etc. so it is feasible that the last Z4s were available with it instead of DSP.

They will claim so much to sell cars these days, most car stereo systems have upgrades that involve processing, eithe DSP to enhance a analogue signal or processing effects like reverbs and delays to give you hall, theatre etc sounds, unless Logic have produced a processing system for cars that put in the delays etc. But that would not be the same as a Logic 7 system.

But if you are going to put a 42 inch plasma in with a multi channal amp in your Z and watch stereo TV that would be different
