Locking wheels nut / tool kit problem

So my new tyres came today, all ready to go on when I have my wheels refurbed tomorrow, all good so far.

I’ve just been outside to get the toolkit from the boot, which should contain the locking nut key and there isn’t one. I assume it should be tucked next to the battery (like on the E85). I have contacted the previous owner, she said it should be there as she’s never taken it out of the car, obviously others have.

I assume it’s the same black and red roll that’s in the E85? Is there an anywhere else in the car a service engineer might stow it away that I’ve missed. If not and it’s simply been lost what are my options, I assume I’m going to have to cancel the wheel man for tomorrow as we don’t have the wheel key?

Mine is under a small hatch on the left hand side of the boot in the 'dont put anything here' zone. If you dont have it its not the end of the world the dealers have ways and means of removing them regardless, just takes a while. Let the dealer know now if you cant find it, I would.

He He - just found it, wedged underneath what I believe is the first aid kit in the little compartment on the left in the boot. It was so hard to get the black first aid kit out I assumed it had been in there untouched since new. But having levered it out (literally) there was the toolkit and wheel key underneath...happy days 👍

All there is in the roll is the towing eye, flathead screwdriver and the wheel key -looks like a space for something else, what’s missing?

That's all there is these days! Gone are those days when BMW gave you a fairly comprehensive tool kit in a nice compartment that screwed into the trim of the boot lid. Or a rechargeable torch in the glove box. Blasted bean counters! :|

There should be an open-ended spanner, 10mm one end and 13mm on the other. If you pull the screwdriver out of the handle it should be a Phillips on the other end.

I think the lack of the torch is another touch of meanness on the Z4 spec as my 05 and 06 3 Series both had one!

I don't think this is included in the tool kit in the E89. This page in realoem shows the spanner but it's greyed out and is not available in the parts list:

https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=LM52-EUR-06-2009-E89-BMW-Z4_30i&diagId=71_0326

Maybe the around 2005 / 6 might be the last year of BMWs to have the torch, my 2016 F20 which I bought brand new didn't come with a torch either.

Well waddya know, I can pull out the screwdriver to reveal a Philips at the other end, like the worlds cheapest Swiss Army knife

So the E89 “toolkit” is basically a double ended screwdriver

I ditched my locking wheel nuts, more hassle than they are worth. I had one come apart on the wheel, they are really soft

Realoem gone weird, i noticed top right have to set it to english and not US english to see the breakdown parts. US english seems default.

I'm not sure it is realoem that has gone weird! Since I got burdened with an updated version of Microsoft Edge I never wanted that takes lietrally minutes to load I get US-English corrections on every website! Even for typing "colour" on here. :headbang:
