Locked out - help

Cleaned canvas roof prior to renovating - so lots of water around. Unlocked car, went for a drive to dry roof then parked at supermarket around corner. Locked car - all good. Came back and remote would not work. After many attempts walked home and tried the old key fob on the toothbrush charger trick which in the past has given the remote a boost. This morning agaun nothing.
So the key fob has always been dodgy but would always work eventually. Been planning to get around to getting it fixed and getting a spare key. Had GM5 repaired when I got car . So - questiions before I ring Green Flag.

  • If I unlock door with key and alarm goes off will it stop if I disconect battery?
If so, when I reconnect battery will alarm go off again?
If not, will imobaliser (assume it has one) then prevent car from starting?
Could water have got somewhere it shouldn't and blown a fuse for central locking?

If I can get car started I am happy just to use key to unlock car ubtil I get key sorted - assuming thats what it it.
Thanks in advanced.

Sorry to hear you trouble, shouldn’t the alarm turn off when you manually unlock the car With the key, not remote? Even if the alarm goes off I’d try starting the car and see what happens, The alarm may turn off after a short time and then you may be able to drive it home and the sort the remote out from there.

ok all good. 58, owned loads of cars and chin my Mrs for not reading her manual and I never read that first before posting. Lesson learned.
