Locked Keys in trunk! Need help

2005 BMW Z 2.5. I did a colossally stupid thing. I had my convertible roof down. Lock the car. Put my purse in the trunk and slammed the trunk lid. Not realizing that my keys were in the trunk. No spare. I climb into the car but could not release the trunk. Door latch would not open. Called BMW assist. Their solution is to tow the car to the dealership. They stated that because I climbed into the car that my car is now locked down and even if I got the keys the car still wouldnt open. That I need to get a new set of keys. Is this true. Anyway I can get into the trunk from the inside of the car to get my keys and see if it starts?

I remember some years ago of this happening to someone and the BMW dealer was able to open the trunk but they would not say how they did it and like you they did not have a 2nd set of keys. I know that does not help much but it seems there is a way.

I have been reading about a wallet key. Anyway I can just go to the dealership and pick one up to open the car instead of having it towed to the dealership?

Sadly i think the wallet key will still need coding which without a spare set is not possible.

But i am pretty sure it is possible to jimmy the boot lock open somehow.

The alternative... Get them to strip the interior console between the seats.

That way they can prob use a hanger/ something to pull the bag towards the small gap close enough to get to the bag/ open it ans get your keys.

There is a way in. You can remove the back bumper and remove the air vent on either side. If you can push the carpet out of the way you can get your hand in. I did the same and managed to unlock it. I have a pic somewhere butit will have to wait til after work im afraid!

found this on the internet, never tried it.

If you can get to the General Module, located behind Glove Box & find the GRAY / BROWN (-) wire located in PIN 6 of the 54 Pin Plug.
You can "momentarily" Ground - the GRAY / BROWN wire to pop the trunk

That's the wire from the boot release button, I doubt that will work when the car is locked. One could just press the release button if that were the case. That said, there may be some way to manage to unlock the boot from the general module. No idea what that may be though, there's 3 different wires feeding the boot lock, what they need in what sequence I've no idea.

If you have time and adequate documentation, order a full transmitter replacement key. Then you will have a full spare, though at a price of $200 or so.

He said he could climb into the car, the boot release button doesn't work if the car has shut down.

Thread revival, i locked my keys in the boot, car locked. So i searched around and found a thread on another forum for exactly this situation. Took me about 15min to get them out. Heres how, remove drivers side (detach) rear bumper, you dont have to remove it all from the car. Behind bumper there is a vent that goes into the boot just large enough for you to get your hand in. Its just a case of removing 4 x 8mm screws and the 3 retaining clips at the rear of the arch lining, then poping of the vent. I used my cam on my phone ( taking pics inside) to locate the keys.
