Lock car without activating the alarm

Off on the ferry tomorrow and I've just realised I don't know the answer to this.

Can you lock the car by just turning the key in the lock? Or does that automatically activate the alarm too.

Thanks in advance

IIRC you lock the car with the remote in the normal way, brief pause and then then press the lock button again to disable the alarm

just stick the key in the lock and turn, thats what I was doing when I had a faulty bonnet sensor.

Also I just taken my z on 2 ferries and never even thought of deactivating the alarm

i think as stated its just a case of pressing lock once to lock... lock again a second time and it deactivates the alarm or level sensors.

i got my car from Ireland and ferried it back from Dublin to Hollyhead last year and i didnt even know about this so just locked it in the normal way and was fine, even went to car twice during the trip to get some bits and bobs out of car and it hadnt gone off lol

Press the lock button again within 10s of locking it.

A visual check is to look at the red blinker on the underside of the rear view mirror, normally it just starts blinking shortly after you lock it but when you press the button for a second time the light comes on constantly for a brief moment before it starts flashing.
