Lock and Unlock programming - your opinions please?

This week my GM5 module started showing the classic symptoms of relay failure. I will be removing it this weekend and sending it down to Colin at www.http://bmwgm5.info for repair.

I am also taking the opportunity to get the module reprogrammed. There are two that I am undecided on and would appreciate comments from those that have done these:

- Automatic central locking is re-locked after 2 minutes if a door is not opened.
- Lock after drive off.

I will have to tell Colin on Monday what programming I want done.

Thanks in advance!

I'd say 'Yes' to both, I have lock after drive off & will enable automatic locking next time I can be bothered to fire up the laptop that has SSS installed on it.

The only slight issue with lock after drive off is that it needs a double pull on the door handle to open, I thought a friend was going to pull the frikkin thing off as I hadn't warned her to pull twice.

Thanks for the reply TonyP.

I have tried to get SSS running with the BM Cables daignostic cable and software and failed miserably! I'm sure I am very close but have hit the proverbial brick wall - I think its something to do with IP addresses but can't figure out what I am doing wrong! If I could get it working I could play to my heart's content!

I too have lock after drive off ,and Tonyp is absolutely right, nearly every passenger I have had as tried to pull the door off ,I would say unless you live on
the Gazza strip or the Bronx ,dont bother with this one.

I feel your pain as I also really struggled to get it working, shame you are not closer as you could pop around & hook your car up.

Thanks for the offer. If it was a 200 mile round trip I'd probably do it but at 500+ its just too far.

I'll probably have another go in a while (i.e. the winter) - driving it is the prime objective at the moment!

I have both of those activated. Unlike my 1 series though when I turn off the Zed the doors unlock on their own.

I got the Intravee to unlock the door when the key is removed from the ignition, only issue is that it only does the driver's door which is fine most of the time.

Mine too, but it's via Intravee functionality rather than key coding

I had my lock after drive off disabled as it got on my wick to much (passengers trying to pull handles off/picking people up who cannot get in)
I disabled drivers door unlock with one click, passenger door two clicks-it just agrevated me :headbang:

I'm surprised people have issues with having to double pull the door handle to open ... most BMW derived cars I can think of do it.

Obviously forgot that I got the Intravee to do that, was a while ago
