Loads of Z4's for sale

looks like i got lucky then, 7k miles and i only found one tiny mark on the paint otherwise it was like new

When I was looking for my Z4, I saw all the adverts for that place, nearly went to see them as they're not far, but did the research as suggested and was put right off. On the pistonheads forums there was even an instance where staff of that firm were suspected of trying to put in positive reviews posing as customers. I bought privately in the end.

I work about 2 mins up the road from that place, and know a few other car dealers in the area.

Along with all the terrible reviews on the internet, I've heard plenty of VERY unsavoury rumours about their business practises. Particularly about a 'friendly' MOT station that they use. IMHO, avoid them like the plague. There are plenty of better examples of Z4's around, they don't have the good ones.

Just referring back to my original post on this.

1) Looks like a good place to see a range of cars given high stock levels.
2) It's clearly a volume business so probably can't be so discerning as a smaller dealer in choosing what it buys, but,
3) From what I saw, given spec. condition and mileage their pricing looked pretty fair to me.

It's important to remember that some Z4's are getting a bit long in the tooth. Somebody has to sell them, and somebody will want to buy them.

The problem is many people have the perception that in buying from a dealer, they are somehow 'protected' - from a legislative perspective, yes, this offers some further protection in comparison to a private sale, however in the real world, it's really the reputable dealerships and the big manufacturer-affiliated franchises that will be the least hassle to resolve problems with as they have more to lose - I would try to use the same caution buying a used car from a dealership as I would in a private sale. I'd rather ignore the pseudo-safety-blanket and avoid any hassle (especially something that could be stressful, time consuming and costly), right from the outset.

The perception of value is what will determine the purchase of goods or services. If someone is happy to pay for one of the cars there, and they feel it's a good buy whether its a pristine example or a bit tired, then I wish them all the best - however I would urge caution based on the consistency of the actual complaints in the negative reviews that place has received (the number of complaints will always be higher for a volume seller).

Dev, I agree with you. You have to be wary of all used cars and check them out completely before sale. However, even if you do all these checks and the cars look good, you can still be unlucky. I once bought a nearly new showroom Renault Clio from the dealer, paid the extra cos I needed a reliable car. Has nothing but problems and the dealer, even though was still under warranty was reluctant to fix anything. Had a niggly electrical fault which stopped the right indicator coming on. This didn't show up on their 1billion point checks, they somehow managed to fix it only for it to break again a month later, then the warranty ran out and I'm stuck with a car that needs a visit to the garage before each MOT.

My experience of Car Supermarkets in the past have been terrible. The cars are always poorly presented, inside and out. And the salepeople are the worst in the world. Last time I went in, they tried to convince me that the car I was looking for didn't exist purely because they didn't stock it. It was a renault clio 1.6. I kept telling the lady, I've seen the car, I know it exists but she insisted that it didn't  I eventually gave up and went home.

Agree with last two posts particularly Dev. Basically 'buyer beware'. At the end of a day any dealer is just offering you the opportunity to buy a car subject to your inspection and common sense. I bought an 03 plate back in May from family. 3 months later I paid £1,200 for clutch work. If I had bought it from a dealer would the paranoia and recriminations kick in ?...not for me, I would just put it down to bad luck and get on with my life.

Next time I buy a car I'll visit this dealer amongst others and afford them no more trust than anybody else, i.e. very little.

They are only a few miles down the road from me, I know a few people who have bought from them, to say with mixed feelings would sum it up, one guy I know had serious issues, and in his words they were *f***ing useless", someone else I know bought an X5 from them and said he thought they were great, you pays your money....
