Llandudno to Bath!

Evening Guys

So next Saturday I am making the 150 mile, 5 hour trip from Bath to Llandudno (North Wales) and back again, to pick up the Zed. Originally I was going to do this in one go, but on reflection I'd love to take the smaller country roads and make a weekend of it :)

So my question is, which route should I take? Aside from Snowdonia and Brecon National Park, does anyone know of any good routes / stop off points worth passing through?

I've spent many a night here as the Gf's parents live at the bottom of Quarry hill,they do BxB not sure whay it's like has i've never stayed but the food and drink is excellent.
Out of interest are you buying the car from Wellsway?

I'm picking the car up from Llandudno, Bath is near enough where I live. The prices between the two dealerships are incredible; I test drove a Z4 in Bath at the weekend and for £1k extra I could have had the same car with double the milage!

If you've got plenty of time on the way back, then you could try one of my mid-Wales loops.

Option 1 - if it's getting dark or is wet.

Option 2 - if it's light & dry.

I don't usually stop much, unless I'm driving with friends with weak bladders :P

Option 2 passes two miles from my house, two miles north of Llandovery..... :)

But if you come back that way you're better off heading towards Brecon then come due south on the A470 straight over the top of the Beacons down to the M4 at Cardiff, its a nice drive over the top. If you had more time, you could have headed from Llandovery about 8 miles west to Llangadog then over the Black Mountain towards Brynamman, spectacular bit of driving....but I think you'll find its a very long and tiring trip TBH from Bath to Llandudno and back....the worst thing about Wales is the dismal lack of decent roads heading north-south, but if you are happy to take your time, its fantastic.

But wherever you go watch out for camera vans FFS :thumbsup:
 
If you are coming up through Wales ,pick up the A5 at Shrewsbury and stay on it until Betws y Coed at this point take the road to LLandudno.LLangollen is a nice place to stop as iss Betws y Coed.If you want a meal in LLangollen Anns Pantry is a good choice :thumbsup:

And for Petes sake don't go calling it "Betsy Co-ed" like the chavs do.

Its pronounced "Betwiss-uh-Coid"

Have a drive round élan valley- my better half Is from Llandrindod wells and is lovely round there!
