little metal spring clips

afternoon all,

I have managed to ping a metal clip off which fits around the connector plugs which slot onto the various sensors, this particular one is for the coolant temp sensor. i had the underpanel off and its gone never to be seen again so definately need a new one.

i went into the local stealer and was told that the clips werent available seperately, now maybe i was naieve but i thought this might happen more than occasionally and that they might have a little pot of them in the workshop or something but obviously not. so i was then told i would have to buy a new connector and then after the bloke did some more searching on the system i was told that the connectors were only available as part of a full loom which were sehr expensive, i dont want to sound off because this may well be the case, but this does all seem a little bit ridiculous for the want of one metal clip, has anybody else come across this or even better got a part number i could give bmw?

thanks in advance

Andy :driving:

Not sure exactly what part you are after but here's a diagram showing the coolant temperature sensor ( part number 13621433077) which can be bought seperately and not part of a 'loom'.......

Here's a link to 2 BMW parts catologues which give you all the relevant part numbers - just takes a bit of searching sometimes:

Good luck (will this fix the coolant leak....?)

thanks for your help,

i gave the dealer the part numbers i found but they couldnt tell me if it included a clip or not, they were quite helpful this time though and recommended i go to a local auto electrician, which i did and i bought a plug off him for another car but took the clip off and put it on now, cost 2 quid but at least its sorted.

as for the coolant leak, when i pushed the sensor back on, because the system was still pressurised after driving there, when i pushed the sensor back on water pissed out the top of the pipe where the other sensor is so i think the leak is actually at the top not the bottom as i originally thought, will have a better look tonight when the engines cold to find out more.

to top the trip off, when i was driving over there the car started missing again, i did the vanos mod the weekend before last and its ran lovely and smooth for 300 miles and now its started missing again :(
