Little exhaust mod...

Came across this interesting little mod while searching exhausts

Do our Z'd have baffles that open/close depending on air volume like on the 330i / M3 mufflers? I never checked on mine. Don't think I'd do the mod though, happy with the sound of the 3.0i stock.
 
Hmm I think the standard 3.0i exhaust is a bit quiet for my liking, but as I'm in the process of adding a quad exhaust, this mod would be pretty redundant for me. I'm going to add some sport mufflers like ranski did or maybe just take the muffler out all together like jdm.

Have a business trip this week, but next week when I'm back home I will be getting the standard muffler cut off, so I can hear the exhaust without it, and I'll make my decision from there. It's gunna look pretty average driving around with no exhaust tips for a few days lol :oops:
 
Well if you're swapping out the exhaust anyway it wouldn't hurt to drill it out and see what it sounds like, then report back to the rest of us 8)
 
Lol well I thought that yesterday but My drill wouldn't reach the baffle, so I grabbed a ruler and it is about 30cm from the end of the tips to the baffles, if I wanted to do it I think I would have to buy some kind of extension, but don't really feel the urge to spend money on this lol.

I'll see if my dremel can get in there, it has a flexy extension thing, but as it's flexy I'm not sure it will do the job... Will let ya know how I go
