List of 'Must Experience' engines

What's your list of 'try before i die' engines? Maybe we can make a list.

I definitely think the S54 (ideally in z4mc form) worth adding to a list, likewise the M156.

A stage 3 tuned Suzuki rg500 square 4 two-stroke is definitely on most bikers lists, it’s a thinly disguised gp replica of Barry Sheenes bike. Laughingly described as road legal nothing like it has been made since :o
Mine exploded about a month after I px’ed it back to the bike shop I bought it from, leaving half it’s gearbox contents spread over the A127 Southend arterial road :P
I’ve owned around 50 bikes but this is the one that stands out from the rest

Any proper old school honda vtec engine. I had a b16a2 (i think) in an old civic, 160bhp from a 1.6 litre naturally aspirated. Revved to 8000rpm. Proper schizophrenic engine, above 5500rpm it came alive.

Rgv 250 2 stroke.
Jag Xk straight six
Flathead v8
Hemi old school
Honda 16v b
Rotary Mazda.
Original beetle air cooled.... great until mine went on fire in the A41 in 1987...sounded ace with twin cherry bomb exhausts :D

The V8 in the F430 Scuderia sounds absolutely magical from the drivers seat. I can still hear it to this day, even though it was a good 10 years ago I drove one 8)

Thats funny, the first thing that came into my head was a 500cc 2 stroke although I was thinking of a CR500 motocrosser.

What would be awesome is if we have access to any of these as a group and can share the experience via passenger rides etc :) It doesn't always have to be driven to be experienced.

My fiance sat in the back of a GTC4Lusso was enough to convince her i need one

WRC Subaru impreza Boxer, and Group B Audi Quattro 5 cylinder turbo,...both at full chat, ...in the woods, peferably,

Impreza turbo
M156 Mercedes
Rover V8
Audi 5 cylinder turbo
RD500lc
Honda 900 fireblade
Laverda Jota
BDA twin cam on 45's

Aston Martin cosworth V12.

It's hiding away there in many an old Aston. The current ultimate version in the Valkyrie.

Not quite what you meant perhaps, but I'd love to be hauled aloft behind a Rolls Royce Merlin....

Best engine I've had is the one I've got now by a country mile, but then it is an M156...

I had a B18C in an Integra Type-R which was good fun too.

I'd still like to try an S54, Aston Martin V12, F12 TDF and Porsche GT3 RS 4.0.

The best 2 car engines I've heard are both V10's. The Lexus LFA and the Porsche Carrera GT.
Both the closest you'll get to a F1 sound on any road car. Awesome

Is there something wrong with your knee in that picture Rob :P

S54
V12 from Aston Martin
T5 found in the TTRS (was a passenger in one whilst we were trying to update the mechatronics unit, so would love to try a manual version)
Think the list is endless :)

Bike engines.
Any 500 cc two stroke until they went.
Desmosedici RR road bike 200hp based on the MotoGP bike at the time.
My fave though has to be the Aprilia RS3. 230 HP /135 KG in the early 2000's.Thats not far off what they make now. An absolute beast of a machine. Saw it at Donington around 2003, only lasted a few years as the way it made its power was un-rideable if I remember.
Norton V4 RR at this year Isle of Man.
Warning... hearing any of these will make the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end!
