Hi all, just seen tonight, with the sun in a certain angle, right next to the passenger side indicator what look like a criss/cross pattern,i cant feel them with my fingernail-(pattern is about inch and a half)-does this mean its had bodywork done there?-ive had a torch and mirror in the cut out in the engine bay,and can see the rear of the indicator, which looks sound, any thoughts?-thanks

Andy if you have only just noticed it's can't be that bad, just forget it and enjoy the car mate.

Your car has been written off at somepoint....The sooner you deal with that the sooner you can move on :poke:
  , what rotten lot Andy, my cars a 2004 model , I know its had some 'cosmetic' paint , plan to have more cosmetic work done , I tend to call it maintanance , trying to maintain that as knew look , which is a challenge on older models . The car runs great an makes me smile, enjoy it .

Thanks Gerry-the last time someone had a joke about my car it turned out to be true!(srhutch and cracked manifold)

Surely you don't enjoy the car if you are always worrying about it? Take it for a drive and stop looking for problems!

Your making me feel guilty now Andy.

Seriously though just enjoy it. Attend a meet so that some folk on here can see your car and hopefully put your mind at rest about any issues you have.

OCD is difficult to treat. :P I have been cleaning the flies off the front bumper after driving since Monday. :headbang:

Hi Andy, you really do worry too much.
Noticed a ding in the passenger door of mine the other week, bollox I thought and moved on. then started cleaning it and started to get depressed at the amount of stone chips on the front and bonnet. Gave it good polish and when finished inserted the key into the ignition pressed the loud peadl and drove until a :D appeared on my ugly mush, didn't take long.
Couldn't see any of the marks from the inside, the sun was shining the roof was down and to make things even better the roads were empty. Just get there and enjoy your car for what it is.

Most cars have had some repair work at some point in their life. People get dings, someone accidentally scratches the paint, etc. etc.

Not long after I got my car I got 2 dents on the bonnet from somewhere (I'm guessing kids playing). But screw it, I could spend £30 getting them removed or spend £30 on fuel. Fuel is more fun!

If you're genuinely worried about your car. Get the RAC or AA to do a thorough inspection of it. They won't pick up BMW-specific stuff. But they can tell you exactly which panels have been resprayed, or if there's repaired accident damage. They'll be able to give your car as close to a physical as a car can reasonably get. Then you needn't worry about it anymore (you'll have a certificate!) and can get on with enjoying it.

Of course if you're still worried after that, maybe sell up and get a brand new supermini with a long manufacturer's warranty. Worrying isn't good for you!
