Lights up/down on startup

Just drove the Z4 in the dark for only the second time, and noticed the headlight beam moves up/down on startup. This is something that cars with adaptive lighting do. I was then on a country road home and there was no indication that the lights turn into the bends, like adaptive lights. So what's the score with 2003 headlights?

Just the step motors resetting themselves to the correct level based upon static set up.

So do you mean like the levelling adjustment you'd have on most modern cars, particularly estate cars, to compensate for loads in the back?

On halogen no, just setting to a static level. You raise or lower with the knurled wheel on the lcm (light switch)

On xenon yes, it maintains the lights at a set level to prevent dazzle.
