Anyone fitted these LED bulbs as replacement for the H7 Halogen in the Dip and Main Beam?

I fitted a pair of their LED side lights and the difference for those is outstanding and I highly recommend them. They're now brighter than the Dip Beam!

So... I bought one of these:

I cannot recommend that sort of bulb style. The problem is that the output all goes sideways and none of it seems to go forward!!!
 
I fitted a similar pair. They were CSP chips, not COB like the ones linked by bearded_ed.
They are better that halogen but ultimately not as good as the HIDs I am now running.
I have the LEDs in the high beams and they are great for that purpose.

I had a HID kit for a while too and was much happier. Sadly one of my ballasts died and no more kit!

I actually have no issues with the high beams but just that the normal lows are just useless!

I've got a a set of LED fogs and then side lights but as I am selling the car and the fogs will fit the 125i I am hopefully getting in the next couple days, I thought I'd keep them!

If they're brighter than dipped beam they'll be blinding all the poor bastards driving the other way

I seriously hope mine last a long time. They were a pain to install; I buried them in there quite well!

The LEDs match the HIDs quite well. I would highly recommend this setup. Will just have to see if the MOT man tells me to fit washers :thumbsdown:

I can imagine the HID and LED sides working great! The normal side lights definitely looked out of place when I had my HID kit rammed in that tiny space!

I was lucky because I have headlight washers for some reason! But no Xenons! So I probably would have gotten away with it.
 
The whites of my eyes are brighter than the Dip Beam...it's all relative. Every other car on the road seems to have about 10x the light throw of my headlights so doubt I'm blinding anyone. I can kneel in front of the car and stare right at them which I can't do on my 1966 Volvo 1800S. They really are utter sh1te headlight units in the Z4 Coupe.

Pull out the projectors (4 7mm nuts each, easier with a deep socket) and wipe the lenses, they get a thin film of dust on both sides, won't make a huge difference but it is a noticeable improvement

They look clean. Car is super low mileage and headlight units look like new. I just think they're really badly designed...perhaps it was a tactic to get people to pay for the Xenon option... though I heard that they are rather poor too. My main concern with fitting LEDs to the Dip Beam is a distortion of beam pattern and therefore MOT fail though I guess I could just put the candles back in for the test...

Luckily that is not something we need to worry about with projector headlight housings. Reflector housings are much more sensitive to filament placement.

The legality of LEDs is still a bit of a grey area. If you fit quality units that throw a decent beam they will more than likely pass with most MOT inspectors.

I find it so dangerous driving with the stock lights at night that I will happily chance it with the MOT man!
 
I get dazzled by oncoming HID/LED so I would not consider fitting to my dipped, I am thinking about an upgrade on the main beam as they would not be used with oncoming traffic.
