Light indicator failure Automatic selector

Hi Folks,

I wonder if anyone can give some advice on this.

I had a bad start due to a very low battery, in fact it needs to be replaced as it continually runs flat, my Z4 has always been a weekend/summer car with low mileage.

Anyway, I noticed that the selection light on the automatic lever is no longer working after the bad start, luckily I can still see if P or D or R in the main display on the dashboard.

Is it a LED light in the selector?

Could this be a fuse issue, I'm only guessing here.

Cheers

1st off I would replace the battery (And splash out on a CTec or similar battery maintainer if you have the facility to have the car plugged into the mains between use).

All modern BMW's are hyper sensitive to low battery voltages, and all manner of strange things occur unless the battery is optimal.

Good luck!

+1 re the ctek. One of the best investments ive made recently.
Managed to revive a 10+yr old battery with it. Reconditioned to 80% charge retention. Top banana!

Strangely this resolved itself, light is working again, hard to say why will all the electronics in cars nowadays. I'm looking for a new battery, I posted a reply to another message on this board as I don't want to shell out for an over priced age battery.

Cheers
