Light Film

Was a clear light film an option on the 2003 Z4? I think mines has some as the headlights are cloudy and look like there is a film thats been hit with chips and beginning to peel.

Ideally I'd like to get the heatgun on this and remove it, if its there,but I'm a bit worried its not film but part of the headlamp.
 
Just had paint shield fitted on mine around front and rear wheel arches, When chap was round fitting the protection film he shown me the full fitting kit temp plate, and in the full kit they would fit film over the headlamps as well as bodywork, maybe yours had this fitted at some point in it's life.
 
There is a BMW optional extra that was available in some markets, or a previous owner might had had it fitted privately. I did, but it started to look a bit tatty after a while and didn't polish up as well as the paintwork.
