life without a GM5 ?

It seems my GM5 module is misbehaving. Before I figure out how to remove it so I can send it away to ECU Testing, can someone confirm the following for me?
When GM5 is not fitted to the car is the car then effectively 'dead' and unuseable, or:
- can the ignition be turned on?
- can the engine be started?
- can the car be moved under its own power?
- can the car (not quite legally) be driven if needed?
If any of the above can be done are there any negative consequences, either permanent or temporary?

cheers

Car behaves totally as normal without a gm5 apart from locking and wipers- so no major loss of systems

I won’t get into the legality of driving a car without functioning wipers…

Perish the thought I might do that, I was just wondering. Honest.
Driving two miles home after the wipers went this morning was not fun!

cheers

Got the prospect of needing to do the 3.0 as the locks are starting to fail

Seems as sure as roof motors failing on 19+ year old cars now

It's a bit more than just locking and wipers but nothing too serious...

  • Power window control.
  • Remote entry (locking and unlocking via key fob and central locking button).
  • Boot release (via key fob, handle button and interior boot release button).
  • Vehicle alarm (siren, tilt & sonar sensors and clown nose light).
  • Windscreen wipers and washers.
  • Interior lights.

I can replace these relays for you professionally no problem and currently have them in stock.

Price is £40 + £5 return postage (tracked).

PM me if you require. Can usually turn around in 48hrs or so.
