Life Change that wasn't......Help Needed

Id agree with the petrol comment plus they warm up quicker and you don't have to worry about residuals as such!

Doing 9k per year at £1.25/l (Derv / Super Unleaded):

Diesel @ 55mpg = 164 Gals/Year = 744l = £930
Petrol @ 35mpg = 257 Gals/Year = 1169l = £1461

£44/Month Difference. And you'd have to visit a petrol station 7 more times a year :)
 
But petrol is 5p a litre cheaper than lorry fuel.
So (1402-930)/12 <£40 a month.
If journeys are shorter, then the diesel takes longer to heat up and is less efficient whilst cold, plus you're risking the DPF clogging up if it doesn't get cleared out.
But there are more diesel deals out there because the manufacturers know they are easier to shift second hand.
It seems that Petrol cars are either performance or city cars now, anything in between is getting scarce.

If you see a car you fancy, go for it, even if it's before the plate change. You may have to wait for delivery until then anyway......
 
I'm still leaning towards Diesel. It will only be driven for the commute which is 20-25 miles each way, A-roads with a lot of NSL stretches, plenty of time to get the old girl warmed through.

I'll stay away from Lingscars.com Do you have a personal story with them, or just what you've read?

Good stuff, I am drawn to the CLA and really like its quirkiness because its such a strange shape but a nice break from the norm, lets us know how you get on :thumbsup:
