Our Ruby anniversary coming up in May - have booked a week in Lido di Jesolo in Venice - never been to Italy but always fancied it - reviews for hotel are good but more importantly location looks perfect :D

Anyone been there ?

I went in 1989 year before the Italian World Cup.
Had a good holiday but haven't been back ( not sure what that tells you)
We bought bus tickets from the local tobac shop that allowed to get the ferry across the Lido into Venice and the water bus up the grand canal. Great value and Venice is a must do

Italy is my favourite place in the world to holiday... great weather, great scenery, amazing food, beautiful women, (to ogle when the wifes not looking of course) lots to do to keep you busy if your that way inclined or chill on the beach for lazy days... cannot beat it... have fun

Actually we got together ( as in lived together ) in 73 - made an honest woman of her in 76 :)

Well remember the summer of 76 - we had just bought our first house in a place called Hoo near Rochester - we were permanently skint ! Had a red MG Midget with wire wheels - the biz at the time - how I ever got my frame in to it is still a mystery !!

Went to Venice a couple of years back. A very busy place especially if the cruise ships are in, exspensive, but a lovely place. People say it can smell but when we went nothing ( waterways)
Also There are some lovely places to eat and drink

We have been married 40 years on Sep 1st. Off to Miami for a few days then it's Caribean cruise time with a suite onboard well I have to spoil her after she as put up with me for this long.

Married in 1976 wow: long hot summer, Raleigh chopper & space hopper :)

Yes yes. I was 6 and had a Space Hopper and a Raleigh Tomahawk (too 'ickle for a chopper) :)

Congrats on 40 years gov, enjoy the trip, sounds ace

I've never fancied it but my wife booked us a trip approx 3 yrs ago and absolutely loved it. Nice hotel, great weather and fabulous food.

As above, it's expensive but I only found it to be for drinks, e:g £12 for a Bacardi n coke. The local wine was so much cheaper and very drinkable.

I thought it would smell but it didn't at all. Nice people, stunning views, superb food and a great feel to the place, so much so, we are thinking of returning later this year.

Went to Lido in the 80's and 2013. If you head out of the resort going West you can catch a ferry from Punta Sabbioni into Venice. If you catch the early morning one, and the weather is right, it is quite spectacular approaching Venice from the sea...it sort of appears out of the mist!
