Lidl battery chargers

Connect via the under bonnet pegs and leave everything else alone- when my car goes into hibernation over winter that’s what I do - (incl my previous E85)
The battery on that car is now 14 years old so I must have been doing something right

14 year old battery is actually a record for the forum, lol!

Thats impressive!

I bought the car at four years old. I kept it for a few years then I sold it to friends who still have it. When we went to see them last April they hadn’t changed the battery then.
I bet they’ll want a refund or a contribution when it eventually fails

Thanks Chaps good to know, what setting do you leave it in?

I assume its safer as when jump starting to connect it to the under bonnet points and not the battery directly?

I have an optimate charger that I also use for other things.

Thinking of using this for the Zed.
Previous owner connected +ve to the battery + terminal and -ve to the car chassis by undoing a bolt and using a Ring terminal. A good way I think and wondered how you guys did it?

The instructions defiantly say remove the negative terminal off of the battery weirdly even in this model. I’ll use it as you guys suggest :)

If that’s what it says in the book just obey !
They wouldn’t give instructions without good reason.

What does your chargers read in the display when at float/absorb?
Mine shows a constant value of 14,7V. :?

I don't know what a charger displays, but do know that an OBD ECU reader shows that when you're driving the alternator charges at around 14.6-14.7volts.

My battery is out of the car so there is no drain/load.
I had a Ctek before and that had no built in display so I cant compare the functions.
Maybe its normal to float/bulk at a constant max voltage? If its not I have to try to get a new one or money back.

It should ideally float charge at 13.6v but some do it a different way and just pulse a boost charge every so often.
