Has anybody here got any experience of the Liber T electronic toll tags for the French motorways?
My tag arrived this morning ready for the trip next month - not in the Z for this trip.

We used them on our Monaco trip last year, no issues & drove straight through the toll booths with no stopping-much easier!

Yes. I wouldn't go on an autoroute without one. Attach it by your rear view mirror and approach the toll booth area, fairly slowly. tag beeps, barrier raises and away you go, usually without stopping.

Some toll booths have faster ones where you don't have to slow as much.

After the month end the bill comes through, in Pounds Sterling and you settle by the Direct Debit you'll have set up.

I fixed mine using the lower adhesive No More Nails double sided stickys. Didn't fall of but came away clean when I wanted to remove it.

Remember to register it before you you go!

Enjoy your trip.

Thanks for the info - do you just leave the electronic gizmo in place or do you unclip and take in into the accommodation each evening or when leaving the car unattended?

Ps . I registered it on the web page soon after the postie delivered it

Hi guys
interested in this as doing a road trip later in the year .
Where exactly will it need to be in the Z ?
Thanks for help !
will save my wife lots of trouble trying to pay the toll and keep the hairy creatures under control .

These are the instructions you get when the tag arrives.
I ordered my tag online Thursday and it arrived by post on Saturday morning!

I left mine in the car for the duration of my trip. We were camping at Le Mans so it was safer locked in the car than anywhere else!

I wouldn't bother removing it when you park up for the night, but it removes really easily - just slides out of its holder.

I came back from France last weekend. If you have time stay off the toll roads. The quality of the surface of the roads are far superior to that of the UK roads. Never used my tag once. Saved my tag for France in June.

Unfortunately I have to drive down to the Toulouse area so it’s a fair old hike - I think the Autoroutes are the only option on this trip.

I lived full time in France for a couple of years and I've been up and down anywhere between 4 to 10 times a year over the past ten years and I've never bothered with a tag .
You'll do Toulouse in about 9 hours and only be on 4 toll roads if you take the Rouen route instead of Paris , it is easier this way .

Just done a quick check on my sat nav. First route using Toll the second without. Guess it all depends how much time you have.

My new day nav does everything apart from drive the car. Enjoy France, I have to wait until June before getting back over there.

The chateroux , Limoges , Brive route is borderline free toll wise , there's one after Brive that runs you into Toulouse , and it's just as fast as the Bordeaux route , maybe faster real world , it's the one I always used over the years .

Thanks for the screen shots.

We travel from the port to Fontevraud l‘ Abbaye and have a two night stop, then onto see friends in Castelsagrat for four nights. - we travel back to the hotel for another two nights then onto Arrowmanches to see where my father spent his summer in June ‘44

We did the trip last year but only one night stopovers which was a mistake

I will rely on the BMW sat nav albeit three years old in the 335 but armed with the above info I will ask it to do a toll free route.

Friends have bought a B&B plus Gites so we will make this trip a little more freqently I hope.

The Z4 is reserved for the annual Germany trip!

My next task is to take the winter wheels off the 335xd and hope it doesn’t snow in the interim.
I would rather drive thro France with the proper tyres on the car.

Just drove through France, and even though the road quality is 1000% better than the UK ones, they do love their roadworks at the moment over there. A few jams, just because of speed restrictions. But no need to have your eyes glued to the road service though, so used them instead looking for speed traps
