So when has Hamilton been dishonest about a "cock-up"? Was it when his team supplied him with a faulty set of brake discs in Germany or perhaps when they didn't secure the fuel line and set his car on fire in Hungary? Or maybe it was when he made a mistake in q3 in Silverstone and admitted his error and apologised to anyone who would listen.
Look if you don't like the guy that's your prerogative but he's just about the most honest guy on the grid (to his detriment it seems).
Ricciardo is a great talent but that win fell into his lap a bit today. But to be fair, he took advantage of it, which is what great drivers do.

It clearly was a really half hearted 'let him by request' and Merc. had no real intention of enforcing it, or asking in a tougher manner.
Aside that Rosberg was hardly all over his gearbox and ready to pass and so needed his teammate aside to avoid risk of a collision.
With all the set backs that Lewis has suffered this season, for him to be 11points only in deficit to Rosberg speaks volumes about his brilliance as a racing driver. For Lewis to have finished on the podium from his last 2 races, where he's started from 20th and 22nd positions says it all. For anyone claiming Lewis throws his toys out: please give me a few examples to support the claim.
