Lettering

Hi,

Just wondered what the best method for cleaning the Z4 3.0si lettering on the boot and sides is? Is it plastic, chrome, or chrome plated plastic?

I was thinking autosol if chrome?

Thanks

Solvol is very abrasive, I’d use soapy water & a soft brush or a damp microfibre cloth.

I’d avoid autosol on any of the chrome parts. I tried to polish the chrome badge on an old car with this and went through the coating in seconds

If there are marks then i’d use the lightest and most gentle thing you’ve got and take it steady.

My favourite car cleaning product comes to mind again here. Johnson's baby wipes, in partnership with a tooth brush. :)

Yes to both of those! Big fan of cotton buds too

I'd rather clean the car of any lettering. Chromed plastic will become ugly in the end no matter how you treat it, having the car without lettering looks cleaner and makes the car a whole lot easier to clean. Last of all: you will get rid of some semi-natural deposits for dust, cleaning products, etc.

Thanks for all the comments. Seems best to avoid autosol and will take up the recommendations!

Mau - the lettering staying for the time being but is constantly under review! :D

I once tried a tooth brush and it scratched the finish. Get yourself a set of detail brushes from 'The Chemical Guys' on Amazon and use soap and water.👍
