Lets talk about door locks......Auto Lock

I recently noticed, after some nine months of ownership...(actually noticed about 4 months ago) that the door locks on my Z4C don't engage unless I pop the button.
Every car I have owned since 1980 something lock when I engage to drive with in 10 seconds or so.
So to me, this is kind of odd, being as this is supposed to be one of the most sophisticated cars on the road.

Do yours auto lock or not? If so then I have another item of inquiry to deal with. Tho it realy is a small quibble.

Yes mine lock at some point after pulling away, damn nuisance if you ask me as they don't unlock when you switch off so no quick exits :x
I would of thought it is one of the things you can have coded to the key ? But I'm sure someone more knowledgeable than me will be along to advise correctly.

Option in SSS, off by default so you must need to turn it on. It is a bit stupid unlocking on ign off isn't an option but I'm used to two pulls on the handle. Have to remind unfamiliar passengers though who try and rip the thing off when it doesn't open as expected.

Both my E85 and my E89 auto lock (at 10 mph or thereabouts). The new car is more flexible though as it has a check box for switching the function on or off in settings. :)

On E85 it's completely programmable and for each key
Unlock drivers on one blip and passenger on second, or both on first blip
Lock on drive away af 8mph, or neither.

We have ours set different for each key as Mrs likes car locked on drive off and I just have the passenger side locked.

Yep mine set via Intravee to lock at around 10mph and unlock when park selected. I guess in a manual you may have to put up with double pulls on exit unless there is an option for handbrake to unlock. Think I would disable it if I had to do the double pulls all the time.

Yes, as some previous posts have mentioned this is all fairly easily done with NCS Expert coding. I have done so many modifications to my own GM5 that I no longer know what the 'normal' settings are anymore, but there are definitely mods to locking times, if locks are used, warning sounds and lights for seat belts, etc.

There are a definitely a lot of coding options to investigate! :)

Haha yeah when I got my first Zed I quickly learned to tell unfamiliar passengers to "pull twice" when they go to open the door ;)

My first one didn't have it set, but this one does - I just wish it worked like it does on the OH's Minis and unlocked when you turned it off. :?

I'm getting used to using the switch next to the one for the hazard lights to avoid the double-pull issue!

Hehe it's a long time since I've had a passenger who I asked for one pull let alone 2!
