Lets see your Watches

A good place to hang out and also acquire GOOD second hand watches from trusted people is to join TZ-UK forum, my other forum that I hang out at under the same name.

Agree with Buster, as long as you are careful and buy secondhand you can’t go wrong as buying new is a sure way to lose lots, if you collect then you will no doubt flip a few along the way and take a hit, exception is Rolex as they tend to be more S/H due to restricted circulation on some models ie the Sub, you only have to look at s/h dealers to see the cost of some subs selling for way over the RRP, SubC going for 2k more, or buy new on a long waiting list.

I’ve learnt the hard way in the past and only buy new on 100% keepers , eg Bought a Speedie in 2008 for £1500, now £3k new, crazy old game but enjoyable.
Is TZ-UK different to TZ? I have heard some bad things about TZ from previous members who have been banned for daring to question the holy writ as handed down by others on the site. Not a healthy or welcoming place at times. Having said that, I'm not a member (was already on WUS, WTF and now more on Omega Forums) so I'm not able to say this from personal experience. I have enough watches of different types that I'm not really active in collecting any more (and was never great at the art of the flip) so I don't have too much exposure to the different forums as they are now.
I'm still on the lookout for a 216750 Explorer II white dial, and then I think I'll really be done.... (yeah, right  )
I agree with the above advice regarding buying new or second hand. I bought a Breitling new back in the mid-2000's before prices went silly(er) so that I could experience the whole dealer thing. It was nice, but not nice enough to justify the extra you know you're paying for new. The majority of all my other watches have been pre-owned and purchased from forum members

TZ-UK is a different forum, I’ve been on it for years and never come across any problems or people being banned, however I’m also on WuS and they are a funny bunch as people seem to banned all the time over there, still they are both great sources of information.

Date Just with a Blue Dial. Fitted my brief of a sweeping second hand and an easily seen date.

Rolex blue is particularly good, isn't it? And the DJ configuration, together with the Jubilee bracelet is really classic. I envy your choice.

Here is my Lemania WWW 'Dirty Dozen' watch. So called because the military wanted a new watch towards the end of the 2nd World War and approached 13 Swiss manufacturers to provide them. Unfortunately it is said that one manufacturer was making watches for the Nazis and so it the contract was awarded to only 12. Most were delivered in 1945. The holy grail is to collect all 12. The manufacturers were: Buren, Cyma, Eterna, Grana, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Lemania, Longines, IWC, Omega, Record, Timor, and Vertex. Grana are the most rare. Not a pretty watch but collectable.

Added this Glycine Eugene Meylan to my collection. It’s a remake of the original 1930s first automatic designed by the Glycine founder Eugene Maryland. It’s an ETA movement 42mm

My good lady wife has just bought me this Citizen Eco drive. Super slim, plain and simple and never needs winding or batteries.

My last one is still going after 14 years

Very nice
I'd love to add an El Primero to my collection

I came into a little money from my grandfather and saved this for some time with the intention of spending it on a watch to remember him by. After nearly 4 years of patiently waiting, it seemed apt to treat myself for my 30th birthday - my first 'proper' watch - an Omega Speedmaster Professional. I do have the original 'Omega' strap, but love the various straps Bulang & Sons do so have a couple of those to use with the watch on a more regular basis :)

Classic - Speedmaster always looks great on the wrist (strap suits it well, good choice).

I switched mine to a NATO not long after I got it (although the Omega bracelet is very comfortable) 8)

Thanks chaps - enzed that looks like a speedy Tuesday? Very smart! I very nearly went for a speedy Tuesday myself but at the time it was a little more than I was conformable spending - and the one I was lokign at had white inset dials, but in the end I referred the more vintage look of the 'all black' dials. That nato looks well suited colour wise to yours - did it come with the watch or did you spruce it separately?

Thanks, I bought the NATO from Omega when I was in Hong Kong last year, it only came with the SS bracelet. The watch is the 'TinTin' model - I love the dial and the story behind the watch, so when the opportunity to get one and my birthday both coincided, it was a 'no-brainer' as they say :D

Cant beat a good Speedmaster, first new Swiss watch I bought years ago for £1250, over £3.5 now!! My only watch in the collection which a 100% keeper
