This landed about an hour ago really thrilled with it. The third time in buying a Planet Ocean but this time it’s the 42mm those 46mm are just a tad to heavy. This one as been modified with it having the Adjustable clasp, recent service and refurb by Omega. It’s like new.

Cheers Paul.

My ideal is a planet ocean in titanium, but they rarely come up used, and I want the 8500 movement with the display back.

Thought this was quite good value for new, http://www.goldsmiths.co.uk/Omega-Seamaster-Planet-Ocean-Titanium-Mens--Watch/p/17331050/#fo_c=655&fo_k=e17a42864dcaeea195fcfdda65a51596&fo_s=slisys but it doesn't have the titanium bracelet which would obviously bump the price a fair bit.

Nice. I was looking at these today.

I have a Planet Ocean and noted that the retail price has gone up more than £600 in the past 18 months!

I happened to have access to a rather ridiculous discount for one week only, so whilst I hope to keep it forever, if I had to sell it, I shouldn't lose anything!

I might have the chance of an eight year old Rolex Yachtmaster - it’s stopped and would need a fix and service - has anyone any ideas what I should offer - I would like to make a balance between fair and getting a bargain.

Can you get a quote to repair from a watchmaker, then factor that in to the sale price? Assuming you have access to the watch.
Rolex being Rolex, you may find the watchmaker doesn't have access to parts if they're needed to effect repair, anyway. :x

I would factor in the service and repair circa £1000

Standard service is ca £750 and the service papers are a plus when it comes to selling. Chances are its not a serious glitch with the movement, depends what he"s been doing with the watch. 8 year old Yachtmaster is unusual to have problems, is it real ????? Check out Chrono24.com and you can see 2nd hand world wide offers, gives you and idea what its worth up and running.

Picked up these cheapo watch stands and quite pleased with them and do the job nicely, although I did break one as some once the band is slotted into the stand it can be hard to dismantle again  The band has some springyness so easy to mount the watch without undoing the strap.

It a good chance the mainspring is broken, a common problem with mechanical watches. No need to sent it to Rolex for a service try an indie such as http://www.russelltalerman.com/ much cheaper and will come back looking like new.

I will need to get an estimate for the repair costs before I offer money.

I was lucky enough to get a very nice shotgun at a good price when the owner “needed” the cash! I hope I’m as lucky again.

If on inspection it looks fucked its still worth £2750 with boxes and papers, new movement refit is not rocket science to find. I suspect its a minor issue causing the problem but guys like Nic at Chronomatic and several others are really good with info and service so they are always helpful. Bear in mind, it costs to fix it and with invoices from the serious people it only increases the value.
Check it study it make sure its real, Good luck with the deal.
