Lets see your Watches

Its not rubbish like the Chinese Haida so keep it. That movement is actually used in others like Movado. Google Tag Heuer eta quartz movements,,,should tell you if its from them,,,or not

I took the back off it.
There are several markings on a gold coloured metal.
The markings say: SWISS V8 F06 111 THREE 3 JEWELS
This all means nothing to me but may mean something to some of you guys.

I'm now 99% convinced it's a genuine TAG (although I'm no expert on these).
Looking at the 'well-used' condition of the case and bezel, I think it is a sapphire crystal - anything else would be well scratched, and the OP's crystal doesn't look bad at all (can't tell if the line around the 2 o'clock is a scratch or a hair).
I would get still get it repaired & cleaned up at a watchmakers. I think it will look great when finished. Bit small for me @ 39mm but will be a nice daily wearer.
I'm not sure I want to know how you removed the caseback if you don't have a removal tool.... :( :?

I have a tool to remove watch backs.
It actually unwound quite easily, I was surprised.

Here's my second decent watch, I retired my 1983 Rolex when my Dad passed and bought another Rolex and now I think of him every time I look at my watch.

not the best pic but more for insurance purposes as a reference.

Classic style. How many times a day to you get asked 'is it real'? :D
I was in the local dealer a couple of days ago, and they were twisting my arm on a Milgauss (resisted) then a white dial Explorer II (only just resisted. I think the price put me off a bit, but it was a beauty...).

How many times? Every time someone notices the name on it.....they have to look closely so not often.

I screwed up, the first post was my wifes' watch, this is mine , got them the same day. hers is more blingy, and they are worn all day every day hence the scratches and etc...
I need to polish it up a little...too much gardening and home project work.

If anyone is into Christopher Ward watches they have just released their latest motorsport collection called the C7 Rapide for pre-order. As they sent me a 100 quid voucher I couldn't resist going for the automatic non chrono :)

I've had one of their C70 chronometers for nearly 2 years now and hasn't missed a beat.

Many thanks :)

Agreed - that's a beauty (both of them, actually). But the second watch is a chronograph, not a chronometer, unless I'm getting doddery in my old age (that's probably a given  )

Thanks a lot, the second watch is a COSC certified chronometer :)

Tim.

So it's both then

Lovely Smiths Delux watch handed down to me from my Grandfather when he passed away. Fully engraved for 35 years of service from the East Midlands Electricity Board in 1954.

Still works fine. Apologies for the fuzzy pics!

Have they rebranded again? FFS. And that Swiss Cross/Union Jack logo is a bit amateur IMO. Overall the watch looks good though.

Good to know, cheers

Just FYI if you ever need to get into one of your watches to change a battery there's a few easy tricks that don't involve any special tools...

Sticky ball method:

Sticky tape method:

Or if you get a really stubborn caseback you can always superglue a nut to the back of it, remove the caseback with your socket set, then give it a quick soak in acetone to remove the nut/glue

I absolutely love that, the construction of the case with the anodised centre section is somewhat reminiscent of the bremont MB series...

Not feeling the £700 pricetag (although its a fraction for the Bremont's price) I think I'll wait and see if this one ends up in one of CW's famous half price events

The Christopher Ward arrived today :) Really pleased with this and nicely finished. My only gripe is the strap is a quick release from the lugs but apart from that a very nice piece. The branding change doesn't bother me too much and I prefer the new logo, so if it's a looker then I'm hooked.
