Lets see your Watches

I guess it's a little like why would you spend the extra on a 2023 G29 20i M Sport Portimao Blue over an MX5 which does the same job from A to B :?

Tim.

Perhaps if you had a nice watch that caught the eye of ladies leading to a conversation starting, you wouldn’t need to download pictures of naked ladies? :P

Also, as the forum caters for all variants of the Z4, it is hardly state of the art. 8)

That's what someone asked David Beckham about Posh and his nanny

Okay, as I would say that 99% of posters on here are men, I would suggest that 90% of users have intentionally downloaded and viewed naked women! Whilst the other 9% have probably done it accidentally and/or downloaded and viewed naked men because they bat for the other team

Back on topic, I'm thinking of purchasing a Cartier Pasha 35mm Seatimer automatic from H&T, but it is has no box or papers, and it is the only one available in the UK, lots of 40mm. I don't necessarily mind that it has no papers because I wouldn't sell it on, however my concern is that H&T are pawn brokers and so......

Thoughts?

I would always try and get a watch with the box and papers if possible especially with higher end watches, it wouldn't bother me too much with a cheaper watch if the price reflect a missing box etc. Unsure who H&T are but if pawnbrokers there's always the spectre of fakes and a potential can of worms. Even if it's rare or limited in availability as tempting as it is if one becomes available I would stick with a reputable watch seller who checks their watches authenticity before sale. Pretty essential I would say with the likes of Cartier, Rolex etc. You could always approach reputable sellers to try source the model your after, might mean paying a little extra, but for peace of mind, worth it in my book.

I agree that 99% of the forum members are men who watch porn, I would guarantee that the 1% that are female watch porn too (but deny it emphatically)

The only way to gain true authentication for your watch is a Cartier service, I would ask the vendor to send it to Cartier for service and share the cost, agreement is unlikely as it's a pawn broker. I would offer to buy the watch plus the service once completed (it will need one anyway). It will then come with a Cartier guarantee and more importantly be authenticated by Cartier.

I sourced my Panerai from Watchfinder the price was about right, it has two year warranty and is in as new condition. I had been looking elsewhere EBay Chrono 24 but there were non available in the UK, plenty in the US Japan HK etc but then you have duty VAT etc to factor in, which then makes them more expensive thane Watchfinder.

Hi, this was my grandads watch in the late 1960’s before my dad inherited it in the 80’s, it’s now mine. I like the style but like its history more.

That's lovely, I have my dad's Omega from the 50's and like you, the history of it and the patina/marks it's gained on it's journey is a massive part of the joy of having it.
Very nice watch

Can't recall whether I posted this mid-50s Omega with 'lounge lizard' period band...

What are people’s thoughts on the Tudor Black bay 58 GMT? Compared to the Breitling superocean heritage B20 or the Omega Seamaster 300 series.

I’m not asking which to buy, just trying to gauge the quality of these three offerings. I appreciate they’re not all at the same price point, and I’m not looking to buy the Tudor because it’s the cheapest, I’m just trying to get a feel from the experienced watch owners on here about the relative merits of each.

Thank you

Had to wait a while for the right one to come in and it's not even mine but a happy wife mean's a better life.

Always wanted an Omega Planet Ocean but just never got round to buying one. This beauty appeared recently and was a complete no brainer. Just had 2 grand spent on it at Omega, full service, new crystal, new dial complete and new bezel assembly complete. It has 2 years Omega warranty and is genuinely like a brand new watch. Came with original sales receipt, swing tag, cards and box. Love it.

Lovely watch, would like to add one to the collection one day but wowee not keen on the service cost 😬

I baulked at 600 quid to service my Tag Monaco Gulf done at Tag themselves as the company I used couldn't service it due to the calibre complication.

Might try it myself one day, I mean how hard can it be 🤔

I had a Seamaster Chrono and then fell in love with this, a Planet Ocean Chronograph. Had it 5 years now, but there's still one other I want...awatch.jpg

Lovely watch the planet Ocean, I was offered 20% off RRP in Goldsmiths but opted for the Tudor BB Monochrome with a slightly lower discount in Fraser Hart.

As much as I loved the Omega, it did feel slightly big on my wrist. Very happy with the Tudor, but I’m sure I would have loved the Omega too
