1 Series - the ugly one...
am with you Bing except all 1 series are ugly unless we're talking the 'M'series :driving:

The 1 series convertible is not too hard on the eye - though personally (and I expect to get shot for this...) I prefer the look of the A3 convertible. The M coupe is lovely, but £40k+ is an ugly price.

My money is on a 1 series if it's a main stealer, though the OP may luck out and get a mini cooper.

318I ES (if they still do the ES model)

If it's not a main dealer I'm going with a Chevrolet Aveo...

Well, some dealers have realised this is a fantastic marketing opportunity ...

Have run AUDI's for many years now & every time I've been into the dealership for servicing been given something different ranging from 2 AUDI A6 estates; 1 TT convertable; 1 A4 convertable and a A4 Quattro... max 6 months old, loaded with just about every conceavable extra you could imagine (well Huntingdon & Maidstone AUDI do this)

Excellent opportunity to 'try before you buy', was specifically why I got another & was easily suckered into an extra 4k's worth of options... sales guys already knew they didn't have to sell.

Assuming main dealer I reckon either a new 1 series or an X1.
Might depend on any enquiries you've made in the past about new cars
Over last few years I've had a 3 series, a Mini, an X1 and an X3 (the new style and was made available as an X1 wasn't returned in time) as Courtesy cars, three of which I had enquired about buying one new previously :)

Slightly off-topic, but where are you getting your headlight condensation issue sorted, how much are they charging and what are they doing to fix it?

As for the courtesy car, let's hope you get something rubbish so it makes getting your Zed back all that more special!

It's the Fog Lights and hopefully for free, only had the car 7 weeks so got the 12 Months BMW Warranty.

i got a 120d Olympic edition when my car went in for its inspection in October.... i liked it.. felt as quick as my 3.0 too

Is it the new 118d? I keep forgetting how powerful each diesel engine is, as they keep bringing out new 2ltr diesels...

My guess is either 140bhp or 170bhp?

My BMW dealer recently went from 3 series BMW's as loaners to 5 series for exactly this reason.
